Widow of Late Dr. A. W. Burnett
Passes Away

death of Mrs. Caroline Trenholm
Burnet, widow of the late Dr. Andrew
W. Burnet, which occurred in Mercy
hibspital, Chicago, on Tuesday of last
week. Mrs. Bumnet was an irnstuctor

DIED IN THE PRIME OF LIFE
Ellis Mood Wjlson Passes Away
j Our community was deeply Badiden- 1
ed upon receiving the announcement
that Ellis Mood Wilson, World War
verteran and until recetvtfy manager of
Hotel Camden, had passed away. He
died Wedjrvar.dfayt afternoon at the Co- 1
lumbia hospital where he was taken
only a few days previous, pneumonia
being the) direct cause of his death.
Mr. Wilson, who was 35 years of age
at the time of His death, volunteered
his services in the World WJar and
was held in high esteem, by his com- ,
rades. During his six yeans residtence
in Camden as manager of Hotel Cam- ;
den he became popular with all
whom he came in contact with. On
account of failing health he gave up
the hotel business and was occupying
rooms in the hotel annex across the
street from the hotel. j
Besides his widow, Mrs. Lucile
Harper William, he is survived by one
daughter, Miss Ja/runie Wfdson, both
of Camden'; two sisters, Mrs. J. D.
Pulp, wife of the superintendent of
Bailey Military Institute and Mrs. W,
II. Phillips, of Tampa, Fla., and) two
brothers, J. W. Wilson, of Ciheraw,
and A. F. Wilson, of Waynesboro, Ga
Funefnal services were held from
Ridgeway Baptist church at 5 o'clock ,
Thursday afternoon with the Rev. J.
B. Caston, pasitar of the First Baptist
church of Camden, in charge. Inrter

! Gen. Charles P. Summer alt made
his second visit within the past ten
days to Oamden Monday. He arrived
here at 1 1 :50 yesterday morning over
the Eeaboard. Members of city coun
cil, headed by Mayor R. M. Kennedy,
Jr., Company M., Kershaw Guards,
American Leg-ion, Boy Scouts, D. A.
R.'s, U. D. C., amd a large number of
other citizens gave him a cordial
welcome at the station The school
children wore marched out on the
school grounds and Gen. Sum me rail
got out of his car ajvd walked in re
view. of the children. At the city
council chamber he posed for a pic
ture and they were used last night
as place cards at the dinner given in
his honor at the Kirk wood. He dined
Monday with his friend, Col. - Clark
Williams, and returned to Camden for
the reception at The KLrkwood. Two
hundred local' people were present.
Among the guests were Gov. and Mrs
