Public meetings foi t io benefit of a community at tht school house will go a long way to wards creating a community inter est in the school. And such an in terest, once thoroughly aroused, will do much towards improving tht conditions of the schrol houses as well as the work in the schools. The second prirjjary election for county offi?jr?t3 being held today. 1 he election for state officers, how ever, has been called off by the state executive committee pending an investigation of the election last Tuesday week at which fraud and irregularity is charged. The state committee meets again tomorrow, but whether or not it will announce the result of the first election is not known. We have never had in this state such an experience before so we cannot tell how it is going to come out. There are some who belitve that the matter will be al lowed to run along untfl it will be uo late for another primary to be U Id and the election will be settled in the general election. From pres ent indications it seems certain that a settlement will not be reached to morrow, for the chairman ef the sub committee is calling upon the new?>papeis to publish the poll lists of the eWction. We do not knovv how many of the papers will feel like undei taking such a task as this without the certainty ot being paid for It. Not many of Uiem, however, we imagine would be willing to undertake such a job. We are glad that no evidences of fraud have appeared in this county. We aaid a couple of weeks ' age that it waa time for us to quit talk ii g so much politics and get down to oilier matters, looking to material improvements, and suggested that wo start some new enterprise. A gentleman was in our office a days ago, from the lower sec tion of Wateree township, and he s*ld that there were a number of c*ses of small pox in that section, and that it was spreading. He wanted us to say something about it. He thought that something should be done to prevent its spread but as it is nothing is being done. 1 We refer the matter to the proper au th >rities to take such action as they may deem proper.
