TEAM WORK NEEDED.
Camden has a big problem before
her, that of municipal ownership of
vsater and light*, and within a short
wiile a vote will be taken upon a
b >nd issue of one hundred thousand
d -liars for this purpose, In order
t iat no mistake shall be made it is
essential that our citizens work to
gether as one man ? team work is
leeded. In all of the big unuertak
i "?gs what is commonly called
' team work" is essential to success.
Team work is applied largely to
contests in sport, but it can be ap
plied with equal force in business
enterprises. As has been well said
if a team of mules should be so
! litchedr to a loaded wagon that some
[nulled one way while others pulled
another, there could not be much
progress in any direction. If the
greater part of the team should pull
the wrong direction, the load would
go the wrong way and there would
be retrogression. If the greater
part should pull the right way,
there would be some progress in the
tight direction; but it would be slow
because of the deadweight of oppo
sition of the orher part of the team.
Taking this view it would be easy
t ) conclude what the results would
be if the team pulled in the right
direction all together. That's just
what our citizens should do in the
v. ital matter before them. We need
team work ? the right kind of team
work. The probabilities are that
ihe bonds will be voted, and then
Camden will have a bonded indebt
edness of one ' hundred thousand
dollars for water and lights. This
striking a big drum.
A commission of public works
will have to ba elected. Sevetal
well known and patriotic gentlemen
have been mentioned in this con
nection. A meeting was held at
ihe opere house one evening last
week to discuss this matter and to
select sound business men/ for this
commission and then ask for their
election. The meeting was not
largely attended, and there were
doubtless some who did not know
of the meeting, and for the purpose
of acting cautiously it was decided
to postpone action along this line
and give greater publicity to the
meeting with the hope of having
the active cooperation of all of our
citizens. Tomorrow (Wednesday)
evening at six o'clock at the opera
house was upon as the lime
for this public meeting, and every
citizen of Camden who is a proper
ty holder and a voter is urged to be
present. If you stay away from
this meeting because you think
there will be a sufficient number of
others who will attend, then you
will be placing a heavier load upon
a few, and this few may feel that
they are not called upon to act and
the matter will go b> default. It is
vitally important that we have good
team work in this matter; it is vi
tally important that you attend the
meeting tomorrow evening The
best interests of Camden demands
your presence, and no ordinary ex
cuse should keep you away.
*Again, we urge you to attend the
meeting tomorrow evening at the Op
tra house at six o'clock.
The recent state democratic con
vention endorsed Governor Wood
tow W ilson for President, but did
1 ot instruct the delegates to the na
tional convention which meets in
Haltimore. In this we think they
did right. We expressed our views
along this line last w eek, ai.d while
we would like to see Gov. Wilson
receive the nomination for the good
1 eason that we believe that he
would stand the best chance of win
ning, still conditions might arise at
the national convention to make it
expedient to nominate one of the
1 ther candidates, and for this rea
son we did not want the delegates
to be pledged. That South Caro
lina favors the nomination of the
New Jersey governor there can be
no doubt, however.
The city schools will close next
week. The teachers and pupils
have done good work, and they,
with the trustees, are to be congrat
ulated upon the success they have
had. We have heard of no serious
complaints, and there has been an
effort made to have everthing to
work smoothly.
See that you have your city reg
i itration certificate so that you can
vote on the bond Issue.

The
Woman'sTonic
Mrs. Jane Callehan suffered from womanly trouble for
nearly ten years. In a letter from Whiteville, N. C., she
says : " I was not able to do my own housework. My
stomach was weak, and my blood was wrong. I had back
ache, and was very weak. I tried several doctors, but they
did me no good. I used Cardui for 3 or 4 months, and now
I am in the best health I have ever been. 1 can never praise
Cardui enough." It Is the best tonic, for wQmen.
Whether seriously sick, or simply weak, try Cardui.
