The two fountains represent in \

will be a gift fittingly bestowed, for
he h*s laborej zealously tor the se

years to come they will be constan
reminders of his patriotic service
for the citize s of our town and
county.
We hope every old veteran in
? the county will be here. Their
presence will add grace and dignity
to the occasion, .nd ihe daughter

roomy and the crowd can be bette
cared for there than most any when
else.
The progiamme for the day wil
be as published in the local column.'
of The Messenger last week.
The State newspaper of the 3^:

ence to a piopose>< hospital to bt

to bring it. But If fou are' willing
to let things just drift and caU<
what you can of what naturalh
comes, then just keep easy ? ju?t a
you are ooing. It such matters a
freight adjustments, better servic
on railroads, municipal ownershi,
of water and lights which means a
saving to you, the increasing uf out
territory and road improvements; it
such matters as these are of too lit
tle importance to attract your ajtten
tton, and if you are perfectly satis
fied, we are at a lo^s to know whi t
will arouse you. Camden cannot
afford to let any more of her tr ?de
slip away from her. Won't you
wake up, Mr. Merchant, and lend ?
helping hand? Y<m will not only
be helping the comn -nity at large,
but ) u will be the chief beneficia
ries.
A petition * ill be presented to
the authorities Clemson College,
asking that the Clemson agricultu
ral train stop at Camden and /ive a
demonstration here. This is a
move in the right direction. We
hardly think that there will be an>
doubt but that the train will stop
here, and if it dot s let every on?
who can turn out and be enlighten
ed. It will be time well spent.
If a trolley line was built from
Camden to Sumter, our merchants
wou'd have to get busy then, else a
good deal more of the trade of this
place that ?ow goes to C olumbia
and Sumter would go. But with
the proper display ot enterprise it
could be made a paying investment
for Camden.
