ganized for. With a capital stock organization
only those who have money
to tie up in stock at $100 a share
could become members. Inthat Case
the small livestock man who needs the
help of the association most would
have been left out. It's present plan
makes it possible for anyone interested
in livestock to become a member
and receive the numerous benefits to
be had from co-operative marketing
of livestock.
Under its revised plan there is ?
$10 membership fee. This entitles its '
members to all of its rights and privi- ,
leges. There will be a small com- ,
mission of 3% deducted from each |
sale. Funds accumulated in this way i
will be used for the maintenance and
operation of the association. It at the
end of each year there is a surplus it
will be distributed back to the mem
bcrs in proportion to the amount of i
business don for each during the year <
This places it on a non-profit basis. j
The co-operative marketing of live- j
stock will save the growers consider- j
able money that has been going to the r
commission men. An outlet such a? (
the association purposes will get for
the farmer the best prices to be had
Information furnished in regards to
all phaess of the livestock industry
will be of great value. The assis- <
tance of the association will stabilize
the growing and marketing of livestock
and place it on a sound busines?
basis. The success of apy business ,
is based as much on its marketing end (
as its producing end. The South Caro- f
lina Co-operative Livestock Associa- (
tion with its main office at Beaufort, c
S. C.. will be in a position to give this t
sevrice to the livestock producers of s
