.WHY FARMERS SHOULD JOIN CO
OPERATING MARKETING
ASSOCIATION

injurious. ThiB being the case, the

ing to the most poorly conducted d<
business in the country. J.
i. Because individual farmers can
? never hope to control the earnings < j.
even the numbers of middlemen who
work fo rthem in distributing their
crops.
3. Because- individuals can not at- e
tain the perfection in grading, standardizing,
and packing that is possible
through co-operation. This frequently
means that individual producers
are unable to sell their commodities
for anything near cost.
4. Because Individual farmers can lf)
not hope to adjust marketing to the cc
needs of the world so as to preveT
"dumping." This means that crops
cannot return full value to growers
on account of the inevitable price cutting
which goes with dumping.
5. Because some lines of farming
cannot exist successfully without co
operative marketing, witness the fruit
and truck growers all over the country
6. Because co-operative marketing
associations grade, standardize, and
merchandise farm products and get
for growers the market price less actual
cost of operating the association.
7. Because co-operative marketing ^
associations tend to stabilize farm
conditions in the territory where they
Ti
operate.
