speaking of and was not worth the
membership fee one had to pay."
Possibly he was thinking about
Boards of "Trade .th&t were as near
death as ours is today. But wp have
had the war and the After the War
depression which -jfs calculated to give
a knockout blow to trade organizations,
so we need not feek badly over
our present condition.,? ,
It is hardly necessary to say anything
as to the value of a Board o)
Trade. Cheraw has experienced sonu
of the good that can come throng*
work in an organization of this kinc
and every city and large town thats

merce or Board of Trade.

Every citizen in Cheraw will agret
that our City Father's are doing fint

street and we venture to say there is
cot a man in town that ever rode
as rough a trip.
And this is true of almost every
sidewalk in town. Every pedestrian
who has to walk with us will testify
to this fact.
We want to suggest to the Council I
that a little work on our sidewalk
would be appreciated by many and we
beg those of you who agree with us
to .mention it to the mayor or a mem,
ber of the Council and w^ are sure'

Calhoun Highway.
A few days agj a good roads meet.

. The Wet Parade.
Charlotte Observer Editorial.
There is no doubt about the fact
that longheralded wet parade in New
York failed of it? purpose, which was
to prove to the country thut there is a
"revolution" under wav ugainst the
Volstead law. The promoters had
made the mistake of counting their
chickens before they were hatched and
making advance guarantee to the public
as to both quantity and quality,
fhp fart was proclaimed that over
200,OOU people had signed up for the
parade, but when the affair came off,
the best the wets could do w-: to
