Das terling, magistrate at Olympla, ?Ved very suddenly yesterday afternoon alKmt 6:30 o'clock at his residence, 1104 lower street. He was serving his second term as magistrate. He was 6S years of age. Members of the Columbia bar who practiced in bis court held htm in high regard For the last few days Magistrate Easterling had been unwell but none of his family considered him seriously ill and he was able to attend to the duties of hi8 office yesterday. His death yesterday afternoon was a great shock to his family and friends inr Olypla and in Columbia. Magistrate Easterling was a native of Marlboro county. For a time be was .Umitu tf-s. Goethals says he has no means of preventing the use of canal or Panama ports as a means of communication and that these ports apparently , are being used to that end. i Col.
