The County Convention.
The Chesterfield Count Democratic
Convention was held in the
Chesterfield Court House last Mon
| uaj. n.very ciuu in lue county was
represented, in nearly every instance
"?y a full delegation.
Considerable manoeuvering was
discernible but no lines were drawn.
Hon. W. P. Pollock was elected
chairman and Hon. W. P. |Odom was
elected secretary.
Hon. M. J. Hough was unanimously
reelqjjqd county chairmajj. ind Hon.
W Stevenson \^abVm?ylooted* as
State executive committeeman.
About twenty names were placed in
nomination for delegates to the Sta'
convention. _ After several declinations
it was found that there were
thirteen nominees. Messrs. E. McIver.
J. Clifton Rivers. D. P. Douglas
and M. M. Johnson were elected
on the first ballot, and Messrs. A. A
McManus and J. O. Taylor on th?*
second ballot.
The convention then adjourned.
Chesterfield county sends a remarkably
strong delegation to represent
her ^n the convention. If every
county in the State has done any
where near as well we are safe in
saying that there will be no petty
politics to mar the meeting of what
should be a very decorous body.
