The old gentleman was seriously injured
by a train running into ibis
buggy near Dillon last Friday. A
negro and the horse were killed in
the smash-up.
Mr. B. D. McCoy spent Monday at
Chesterfield on business.
Rev. J. T. Grant was quite sick the
first part of this week.
Mr. Joseph D. Stokes, of Bethune,
who recently recovered from a severe
attack of typhoid fever, has returned
to his position as section foreman
on the Seaboard here.
Mr. L. A. McNair, the popular book
keeper of the McBee Supply Co., left

where he has accepted a similar position.
Mr. McNair's family will go to
Cheraw about Jan. 1st.
Miss Hattie Gardner and brother,
Mr. W. D. Gardner, of Bethune, spent
last Friday in town with relatives.
The county treasurer was here last
Friday collecting taxes.
Mrs. R. J. Bolin, who has been visiting
for several weeks in North Carolina,
returned to McBee last Thursday
night.

Mr. W. J. Gardner.
Mr. J. D. Sexton attended an oyster
supper at Patrick on Tuesday night of
last week.
Work on the new six-room residence
of Dr. B. L. Norwood, on his
farm about two miles and a half above
McBee, near the C. M. & C. railroad,
will probably begin this week. Lumber
is already being put on the ground
l)r. Norwood has just had 6 acres
sf' out with pecan trees on his place
and contemplates putting out three
more acres, making nine acres in all.
We hope that other enterprising citizens
in ths section will engage in the
pecan culture on an extensive scale.
Mr. Edmund Scarhorough. of Lamar,
was in town on business last
week.

last week with his sister, Mrs. G. I).
