The "0" In Irish Names.
It is a pity so many people here
op the Irish 0, for it is a prefix of
ibility that Is the oldest in Europe,
ys the New York Tribune. Many
our best Dutch families in New
)rk came here without a surname,
it there is not a family in Ireland
issesslng a surname in 0 that has
it borne that surname since at least
e twelfth century. That Is surely
distinction and proof of social standg
that Ireland's fall from its high
tate cannot obliterate.

To Keep Plants.
A good way in which to keep plants
esh without watering them when the
aiise must be closed is to take all the
innts to the cellar or some other
)ld place and set them in tubs, with
i ordinary brick under each flower
3t. Pour into the tubs just enough
ater to cover the bricks. It is best
i place the tubs by an east window
