The tfnniclpal Primary.
The primary pulled off Tuesday for
the nomination of a Mayor and two
Wardens to serve the remainder of
the year was probably the most exciting
election held in this city in
many years. There was no opposition
in the race for Wardens therefore
the interest centered in the Mayoralty
race. Both candidates were
good, true men and the result shows
that their forces were pretty evenly
divided. More than two hundred |
votes were cast and Mr. J. A. Spruil I
received only twenty-two votes morej
than his opponent, Mr. J. W. Brasington.
The candidates for Warden were,
from Ward No. 3, Mr. A. G. Meiklejohn
and from Ward No. 4. Mr. B. Finlayson.
The general election will be held
next next Tuesday and the following
will be the ticket:
For Mayor?J. A. Spruil.
For Warden: Ward No. 3?A. G.j
I .ueiKiejonn.
I For Warden: Ward N'o. 4?B. Fin I
