PEE PEE VALLEY RAILROAD.
r j Work Began on Survey Tuesday?
To Run from Cheraw by Kollock
-ff and the Pegues Section .to
Wolf Pit in This County
Actual surveying was begun on the
* ? Pee Dee Valley Railroad which is to
run from Cheraw to Kollock through
m : the famous Pegues section to Everett's
mill, and up into the Diggs
?* . ^ neighborohood in this county, with a
ij ; possibility of being extended to Rocker*.
Ingham.
Nothing definite can be learned as
$ / to who are the promoters of the new
<" road, though the general belief is
that Messrs. Bonsai and McLeod are
Interested. The Manufactures Record
F&- ft of Baltimore says:
"Construction of an independent
x*^road 'rom Rockingham to Che'*&t
raw, S. C., about 25 miles is expected.
H ^ About $75,000 is reported subscribed
in Rockingham and other subscriptions
are to be solicited along the
V route and in Oheraw."
The Pee Dee Valey Railroad will
v - ; tap one of the best farming sections
PH?*' of the South?a section that raises
% hundreds of bales of cottoq, and
thousands of bushels of corn, where
. g? hundreds o| /tons of fertiliser are
hauled for miles and where there are
, vast areas of virgin timber that will
' -;Vnir^ka taDned. and it aoes without savine
iM?at if the surrey proves the route
a feasible one the people in the section
will do everything within reason
to see it built.?Rockingham (N.

^Watts was dead.
Cash went up to Asheville several
weeks ago with the hopes that its
climate and the treatment to be had
there vould prove" 'beneficial. But
that dread disease, tuberculosis, had
fastened its fangs too strongly and
at 4 o'clock yesterday morning the
angel of death relieved him from his'
suffering.
Caah was the eldest son of Associate
Justice R. C. Watts and was in
his 29th year. The remains will be
taken to Laurens and the interement
will take place at the Laurens cemetery
today.
