The pare has been set and others are
making nice window displays with
their goods. One of the handsomest

1 Miss Mary Stricklin has returned
I from Columbia where she spent se\I
eral days.
Messrs. R. D. Marsh and F., M. Cannon,
editor and assistant editor, respectively,
of the Chesterfield Advertiser,
spent a few hours in the city
last Saturday afternoon.
In one of our neighboring schools
the following is said to have occurred:
The teacher was instructing a
class in composition and said: "You
should not attempt any flight of
iancy; simply be yourselves and write
wnat 18 in you. l/o not imitate any 1
other person writing, draw informa-l
tion from outside sources." As a rejsult
'of this advice one bright lad
turned in the following: "We should
not attempt any flights of fancy but
write what is in us. In me there is
my stomach, lungs, heart, liver, two
apples, one piece of pie, one stick of
! emon candy and my dinner."
A Correction.
1 wish to express my sincere thanks
to the many friends who have shown
their interest and expressed their sympathy
in the supposed serious illness
of my little girl. She seemed painfully
hurt but it lasted for only a day!
or so and is now seemingly perfectly!
well. Again thanking my friends fori
their thoughtful consideration, I beg!
to remain, your obedient servant,
Thurlow Belk.
