Tbe Solicitor's Race. ,
Editorial from tbe Pee Dee Advocate
Aug. 8tb.
Marlboro's candidate for Solicitor,
T. I. Rogers, has been canvassing sev-|
eral parts of tbe Circuit, and feels
much encouraged at the prospect of
his election. There are four counties (
in the Circuit, and each one of them
except Dillon has a candidate for So-j
licitor. It is generally conceded, thatj
each candidate will rarry his own
county.
Mr. Rogers is confident that he will
lead in Dillon county, and this will
probably put him ahead in the district
in the first primary, ad give him
a good lead over his highest opponent'
TOT the-fcecomJ race*? ? There
is probably no lawyer in the
circuit better qualified by intellect,
education and experience than Mr.
Rogers for this position. He is a
graduate of Wofford College, and the
law school of Vanderbilt University,
and has been successfully prac'icing
at the Bennettsville Bar for about
thirty years.
He has during the past ten or fifteen
years been engaged in a great
majority of the more important capital
cases tried in our courts, and
has made a reputation seldom excelled
in this line.
In the mean time he has held several
important political positions, to
which he was elected by the people!
of Marlboro, including member of the J
* - tf t onr
constitutional convention 01 joto,
member of the house of representatives,
and state senator.
The people of Marlboro regard him
as a man of integrity, honor and
truthfulness, who is fearless ad outspoken,
and unafraid of any influence
that may attempt to swerve him from
the path of duty as he sees it.
Being eminently fitted to discharge
the cVMes of rliis office, and a native
of the County, the people of Marlioro
know him, and know his -itness
and will give him hearty supnort in
this -ace. And we predict his elec,i

The Solicitor's
Race.
On the first page of this issue will
be found a communication from Solicdtor
J. Monroe 'Spears, <|etaiiling
his reasons for not being present at
the campaign meetings in this county.
Mr. Spears is confident that his
home people will give him a handsome
majority, and is anxious for
them to do so upon his record as Solicitor.
That they can well afford to
do so upon that record is certainly
too well known to be dwelt upon at
length, and we are equally as condent
as Mr. Spears that his majority
in this county will he an overwhelming
one.

is an item worthy of consideration.
Solicitors who are able to save
money for the people in court expenses
are few and far between not
only in this state, but in every state.
The unquestioned ability of Solicitor
Spears to hold his own with leading
attorneys vouchsafes the interests
of the State begin well tken care of,
and we do not look for anything but
his reelection to this important office
in the first primary.
