WILSON STRONG IN ]
OPPONENTS STATE
Hade Good Showing in Ohio, Home ]
of Harmon?Taft's Chances
Dwindle.
Washington, May 22.?The splendid
vote given Gov. Woodrow Wilson in 1
Gov. Harmon's home State was one 1
of the big surprises of the pre-con- t
volition campaign. i
The result in yesterday's primary |
contest emphasizes the fact that g
Gov. Wilson is the only nation-wide
candidate Contending for the Demo- 1
cratic presidential nomination and
makes more certain than ever hiB
nomination at Baltimore. t
The contest in behalf of Gov. Wll- f
son in Ohio was made by his friends, i
who waged an unhill light without 1
campaign funds. The returns show *
that the New Jersey executive car- t
ried the progressive districts in the t
State and that while he failed of ?
victory, he made a remarkable show- I
ing as a vote getter in every section c
of the State. To have made such a \
run in the home State of one of his c
strongest rivals for the presidential r
nomination was a remarkable a
achievement for Gov. Wilson. Little a
else was discussed in Democratic t
circles at the capital today and on all e
Bides it was admitted that Gov. Wil- c
Bon is more strongly in the race as a
result of yesterday's primary contest
than at any time since the inaugura- t
tlon of the presidential nomination i
campaign. J c
