We have been and are still handling
with Clemson College with view of
r-rting the Pee Dee or the Sand Hill
Experiment Station (preferably the
Pee Dee) located near Cheraw.
We have organized a Corn Growers
Club and gotten up prizes for the benefit
of same, and also had Mr. E. J.
Watson to visit Cheraw for the pur
pose of puting more life into the club
and getting it started off.
Have had several cotton mill men
with us during the year and have
written a number of others with a
view of getting a mill located here,)
also men representing other industries. I
Have brought to the attention of the J
U. S. Post Office Department that the
Cheraw office did sufficient business
last year to warrant it put in 2nd
class and stood next in this district
for a government building. This was
also brought before Congressman D.
E. Finley with a petition that he use
his influence in behalf of Cheraw.
We entertained on April 3rd for a
short time the Charleston delegation
who were on an advertising tour of the
State.
On July 7th we entertained the larggst
crowd ever gathered together in
Ih of the State, there being 12,

beforehand for the pleasure as well as
the comfort of the visitors and everything
passed off without any disturb-.

Fertilizer plant to locate here instead
of in Marlboro county as they had
planned.
And we have a definite promise from
President Johnsoi^ of the Bluitt Falls
Power Co. that they will bring their
power line by way of Cheraw. This
was brought about by the Boa-d after '
a committee from the Power Company
had practically decided to carry the
main line by way of Bennettsville.
