ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE BOARD OF TRADE. We are pleased to publish In today's paper the report of Mr. E. W. Duvall, the retiring president of the Cheraw Board of Trade. This report Is quite complete and not one part of It is "painted." It shows the . wonderful accomplishments of the Board of Trade under the leadership of Mr. Duvall, and the other officers during their term of office and well deserves the commendation of the members of the board as well as the entire citizenship of the town. While the newly elected officers are fully competent they have a pace set for them that will keep them moving i to keep up with. A PRIMARY FOR CHERAW. j A wonderful atride forward, was ' made by Charming Cheraw when, on Tuesday evening, a mass meeting of the citizens was held and a town Democratic Club was organized. #This action meets with the hearty approval of The Chronicle as we believe that it means wonderful things ' for Cheraw's future. This form of government has been ' advocated in the editorial columns of < The Chronicle for its entire fifteen J' years of existence, although we were J( evidently Just about fifteen years ' ahead of the town in that particular, ( when we first mentioned it. Any ' way we believe now, as we did fifteen 1 years ago, and here's hoping to see favorable results. THANKSGIVING. 1 Today is Thanksgiving Day. So far as that goes every day should be "thanksgiving day" 'because " '" never is a day but that we, every one of us, do not have more or less to be thankful for. Howeuar, this particular day is set aside by tlie laws of the land for everyone to celebrate as Thanksgiving ^ Day. It is recognized as a day of general thanksgiving and joy and good cheer pervades the atmosphere, or at least it should. Big dinners are more the order of the day, however, than anything else. It seems that this time the proposition comes from a practical cotton mill man who has had years of experience in the business and has been successfully operating mills and making money for other people. Now he wants to put his savings in a mill located In Cheraw. If the people of Cheraw will raise $100,000 in stock Cheraw* ?i|ill have a $2">0,000 or $300,000 cotton mill. This stock will be sold in shares of $100 each?twenty per cent payable when the amount is subscribed, and fnn nor rent each month for eight onths. The committee appointed by the president of the board off trade to attend to this matter will doubtless appreciate any assistance from the citizens. Let's get busy, now, and have a cotton mill? the cotton mill will not only make a larger city of Cheraw, but 'it will attract and induce other industries to locate in Cheraw. 1. E.
