The Young Ladies class of the Che-1 raw Baptist Sunday school had a hog killing at the League Hall Friday evening last. , It was a great success. Eight members of the class were in the contest.The president, Mrs. G. \V. Trcadway, had offered a handsome prize to the one having the fattest pig, but hearing of the good work the young ladies were doing, she decided to give five prizes. Rev. Dr. L. H. Shuck awarded the prizes as follows: 1st prize, a handsome silk umbrella, Miss Mamie Delk, $19.38. 2nd prize, gold brooch, Miss Beulah Hancock, $14.14. 3rd prize, large bottle of perfume, Miss Ida Stogner, $11.22. 4th prize, handkerchief case with :hree handkerchiefs, Mrs. Mary Scarboro, $9.88. nth prize, handkerchief case with two handkerchiefs. E. church of this city, left yesterday for Greenville to attend the annual conference of his denomination. Bishop T. B. Xee'y, said to be the brainiest one of the Bishops of the colored conference, will preside. Kev. Scott has proved himself a very useful man during his pastorate in our city, and he has a host of friends, both white and colored, who would be very glad indeed for the Bishop to "send him back here another term." There will be an important meeting of the Farmers Union (Cheraw Local) held at Pleasant Grove church on the first Thursday in December, at 8 p. m.
