We have said j what we had to say and stand by every word as strong today as when we wrote them. We have been accused of "knocking" and in fact we have have been accused of a little of everything. We have been complimented and thank those who complimented us very much indeed. We have thrown the rocks, not to injure any one or the town either. We threw them with the expectation of hitting some oue, and had we hit wide of the mark, we would certainly feel bad?but not discouraged. We are proud that we '"hit 'em." We trust that they will feel better when they recover from the injuries sustained. As stated editorially last week we are working for the best interest of Cheraw, Chesterfield county and its citizens, and have been working for the past fourteen years for their interest as we see it, and when any one decides that we are wrong we offer them space in our paper to tell our readers their side of the " TIT_ question without charge. we ?rtitmicg-Tbc ^SlavQuicley?rmrJwould have some people understand that fact. We don't know whether or not this was a friendly remark, but comiug from t h e source that it did, we are inclined to believe that it was. Auy way we will say that we have made enemies and we are proud of them. Show us the man that has no enemies and we will show you a man that has accomplished | uo public or private good. lie is here and is satisfied. He is only looking out for his own good, no | one else. Now, if i he convict sin Chesterfield coun ty were to go ou a strike we can't say that we would be surprised. This is no hearsay or street talk, we have seen it with our own eyes. A negro man, about forty live years old, by the name of William Jones, was S'-nt to the county "gang" on the third of March for selling and storing whiskey. The time was sixtydays.
