Here Tuesday
Pin1 Columltid State.
The particepants in the Pinehurst
run, April 18-19, are prom- :
isctl a good time. All the towns 1
along the route have indicated a <
desire to entertain and assist the ,
tourists all possible. Itwillraau- (
ifestly be impossible to accept '
all the invitations and attentions
offered, as too much time would
be consumed and the schedule
seriously interfered with. <
One of the stops already arranged
for will be at Cheraw. It
will therefore be a pleasure for j
the motorists to avail themselves
of the following invitation from
the Chiquola club of Cheraw:
Dr. Hi M. vvnaiey, uoiumoia. ^
Dear Sir: The Chiquola club I
will be pleased to have all who
participate in the run to Pinehurst
on the 19th to visit their ?
club rooms aud make it headquarters
while in Cheraw.
"Yours truly,
"Wm. Godfrey, Pres." f
It is very important that all r
who will participate in the run let I
it be known as early as possible. *
John A. Hamilton, secretary of t
the Automobile club of Colum- ^
bia, is very anxious to be in po f
sition to notify considerably id j
advance those interested in pro- \
viding the uecessary accommoda- t
tions. Until the list of entries is (
cnmolete it is impossible to know i
what number to provide for. Lo- t
cal automobilists, as well as those
from other towns throughout the
state, are urged to notify Mr. j
Hamilton as sood as possible of
their intention to go on the run. ,
There will be ar, least ten cars i
entered from Cheraw, several '
from Bennettsville, McColl, Cam- j
den, Augusta and Aiken, three (
from Lydia and several from St. \
Matthews.
This is to bo a sociability run,
not a road race, There will not ]
be any list of rr.los formulated, j
but all entrants will be requested 1
to adhere to the schedule as close- '
!y as possible and not to pass
nHinr nil the road unless the
car in front lias stopped for some
reason.
A detail that will be arrauged i
for and that will make every motorist
on the ran feel more comfortable
is a repair car. This car
will be the last one at d will carry
a full equipment of tools, sup
plies, etc., and will be accompanied
by at least two expert repair
men. In the event of aoy I
breakages the repair car will i
come along and do whatever is
necessary to enable the injured
car to proceed.
An invitatiofi has been extended
to the participants in the sociability
run by the Cheraw board
of trade to partake of a light
luncheon in that city, where as
stated ten cars will join the party.
