The Incident Which Moved England to
Turn Drake Loose.
The relations between which Drake's
raid into the south sea had for a
time threatened with open rupture had
greatly improved?at least in outward
appearance?and in 15S5, under special

of English corn ships in order to sup,
ply the deficiency of his own harvests

Bishop W] W. Duncan, of the
Methodist pburch, died at his
home in Spartanburg on Monday
morning a. little after 9 oclock.
He had been an ill man for several
monthsUnd for several days

Bishop Dijncan was president
of the boird of Trustees of
W ifford Cojege and for many
years a member of the facility of
that institution. The college
suspended exercises until after
his funeral
Bishop Dipcan is survived by
two daughters and one son.
