C. has returned after spending the Christmas holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Marlon Boyce, The latter also spent part of the time with Mr; and Mrs. Morris Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Delany en joyed last week in newark, Del. with Dr. and Mrs. David Onn and in Stoningtoo, Conn, with Mr. and Mrs. Stu Booher. Mr. and Mrs. Rush Stidham, Lisa and Teresa of Hastings, Mich, left on Tuesday after Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Downer of Fayetteville, N. C. visited Mrs. nora Boyce, Miss Mary Fuller t and Mr. Pickney Fuller and o- ther relatives in Joanna and Clinton over the holidays. They joined Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Ful- ler and other relatives in New berry for dinner on Christmas day. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. On Christmas Eve, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Derrick of Green ville visited Miss Ruth Hair. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Turner and family of Tocoa, Ga. spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Arthur. Mrs. Ruth Harris of Greenwood visited them recent ly. Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Delkand Kelly of New Orleans, La. will return next week. They arrived last Tuesday to spend two weeks here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mack Brown and in Dillon with his parents. On Sunday Mr. Delk was guest speaker at the First Baptist Church in Joanna. Spending Christmas Day with Mr. and Mrs. Brown were their son and family Mr. and Mrs. Maxie Brown of Rock Hill. CHRISTMAS PARTY The Golden Age Club (form erly called the Senior Citizens Club) enjoyed a Christmas party at their Dec. meeting. The gifts they brought were given to the Lions Club to be distributed to needy children. Special guests of the occasion were the ministers of the churches in Joanna. The officers of the Club are President: Mrs. Sula Stewart, Treasurer: Mrs. Corrine Phil lips and Secretary: Mrs. J. M. Bozard with Mrs. Cancie Brown as her assistant. For informa tion on joining the club, contact one of the officers. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Craven were hosts to a Christmas din ner at their home on Saturday. There for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Holt, Mr. and Mrs. L E. BIRTH RUSHTON Mr. and Mrs. Terry Rushton of Tampa, Fla. announce the birth of a son, Gregory Allan on Dec. 18. She is the former Karen Donaho of Tampa. Miss Donna Brannon, student at Winthrop and Keith Brannon student at USC will return on Monday after spending the holi days with parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Brannon. May Completes Training Airman William M. May, Jr., son Mr. and Mrs. William M. May. Sr., of Clinton has com pleted basic training at Lack- land AFB, Tex. He hasbeenas- signed to Chanute AFB, HI., for training in the aircraft equip ment maintenance field. Airman May attended Char lotte Education Center in Char lotte, N. C. His wife is the former Mary Lamb of Clinton. More than one-half million black college graduates are now in the labor force, about twice the number in 1960. By 1980, there will be about one million black college graduates in the labor force. Is Promoted James M. (Mike ) English, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. English, Jr. of Clinton, was re cently promoted to Petty Of ficer Third Class aboard the USS Putnam, homeported in New Orleans, La. Mr. English is marriedtothe former Miss Brenda Kay Kight of Aiken, S. C. The young couple are making their home at the Three Oaks Apts, in Gretna, La, English was employed by the Clinton CHRONICLE prior to his enlistment in the Navy. Vance Appointed Robert M. Vance of Clinton has been named a delegate to the National Cotton Council’s 33rd annual meeting in Dallas, Tex., Feb. 1-2. The South Carolina dele gates will join with these from 13 other state groups in re viewing Council research and promotion activities for the past year and outlining a 1971 program.
