Reese Young of metery. Rt. 2, Clinton, died Wednesday, December 16. * * * A lifelong resident of Lau rens County, daughter of the late James Park and Irene Boyd Dillard, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Surviving also are a son, Reese H. Young of Clinton; three sisters, Mrs. Charles B. Elliott, Mrs. Lila Dillard and ^Mrs. Jack Sturgeon of Columbia; and three grand children. Funeral services were held Thursday at First Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. The family requests that any memborials be made to Thorn- well Orphanage. Services were conducted by the Rev. Alfred L. Bixler. Pallbearers were William P. Jacobs, Hugh S. Jacobs, Dr. D. H. McFadden, Dr. James Macdonald, Callie Gault,Wil liam Shields, Robert Black, Dr. Judson Davis. Honorary pall bearers were Dr. R. M. Fuller and deacons and elders of the First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Griffin ENOREE-Mrs. Rosa Mae Freeman Baldwin Griffin, 80, of Route 1, Enoree, died Sun day. She was the mother of Mrs. Ruth Cape of Clinton and a sister of Ab Freeman of Clinton. Other survivors include two other daughters, three sons, a sister, two other brothers 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. W. R. Emory TRAVELERS REST-William Rufus (Bill) Emory, 65, of Route 3, Travelers Rest, died Wednesday, December 16. He was the father of Mrs. Thomas Fuller of Clinton. Other survivors include his wife, a son, two other daughters, a brother, a sister, and nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday at North Fork Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Mrs. Vandiver GREER-Mrs. Bessie Grizzle Vandiver, 91, of 412 Fairview Ave., died Sunday in Greenville. She was the mother of Mrs. Pearl Starnes of Clinton. Other survivors include four other daughters, a sister, a brother, 39 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. CoL Kirkland The body of Lt Col Benja min B. Kirkland, 41, of Brook- meal, Va., was found last Wed nesday in a wooded area north of F ort Knox, Ky. Col. Kirkland, an Army phy sician who had been missing since Nov. 20, was the brother of Mrs. Judson A. Davis of Clinton. The father of five children, he was scheduled to become chief of the department of me dicine at Ireland Army Hospi tal. A native of Columbia, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. B.B. Kirkland of Columbia. Other survivers include his wife, Mrs. Reva Gutherie Kirkland and five daughters. R. L Hunter GREENVILLE-R. Lee. Hun ter, 62, of 243 Pimplice Road, died Monday. A native of Clin ton , he was a brother of Henry Hunter, Mrs. Esse Workman and Miss Ethel Hunter of Clin ton. He was a son of the late Robert Lee and Gussie Hipp Hunter and had lived in Lyman and Greenville since 1950. He was a graduate of Clemson Uni versity and was secretary- treasurer of Screen Prints, Inc. He was a mason. Other survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mildred C. Hunter; a daughter, Mrs. Lee Hunter Martin of Columbia; two sons, Robert L. Hunter Jr. of At lanta, Ga., and Thomas Mid dleton Hunter of Charleston; a- nother sister, Mrs. Heide Trask of Wilmington, N.C.; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were to be held Wednesday morning at Gray Funeral home with burial in the Presbyterian Church Ce metery. Gilead United MiUs*Plant No. 1 last week. Re cognized for their long service with United Mills Plant No. 2 Clinton, were Mrs. Reynolds, 29 years, Mrs. Chapman, 28 years, Mrs. Hitt and Mrs. Gal loway, 27 years and Mrs. Pat terson 25 years. Mr. Reitzell is manager of plant No. 2. Mr. and Mrs. R.P. Chapman attended a dinner party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mil ford A. Forrester in Green ville Saturday. Mrs. B.F. Wingard and Barry Jr. will have as their guest dur ing the holidays, Miss Debbie Westmoreland of Warner Robins, Georgia. Mrs. Connie Brock and smaU son, Ray of Belton and Mrs. Frances Brock of Joanna re cently spent a week in Hawaii visiting their husband and son, E-3 Ray Matthews Brock, of the U.S. Army who was on R&R from Vietnam. Mrs. Mary Power, Mike, Beth, and Myrna of Florida St. visiiea T/Sgt. and Mrs. Robert Humphries in Washington, D.C. Marsha and Tracy Sanders, re turned home with them. Miss Angela Humphries of Washington, D.C. will celebrate her 4th birthday Dec. 21. Angela is the granddaughter of Mrs. Clara Humphries of Jefferson Street and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Power of Florida Street Dr. and Mrs. K.R. Holden and son, Kent of Rockville, Md. and Bill Chisholm of Green ville are spending the Christ mas holidays with their pa rents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.Q. Chisholm. Mrs. Holden and Kent will remain for a longer visit. Capt. and Mrs. Glenn Brock Reeves and sons of Barksdale AFB, La. arrived Tuesday to spend the Christmas holidays with her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Davis V. Pitts and his family in Joanna. • Mrs. G.W.
