I l Kfmmwmmvmvmtmwmwmmwmtmvmmtmtmwmwm Women's Worlds BIRTI IS Miss Rogers Entertained Saturday Tea Honors Debs One of the seasons loveliest parties for the 1970 Debs was a tea Saturday afternoon honoring Miss Mary Louise Simpson at the home of her grandmother Mrs. Ludie Troy Watts in Mountvllle. Co-hostess for the occasion were the honorees aunts Mrs. James Leon Burgess of Florence and Mrs. Howard Wayne Byars of Greenwood. Receiving the 1970 Debutantes, their mothers, grandmothers and other guests were the hos tess, her granddaughter, Mrs. Frank H. Simpson Jr., the ho- noree’s mother and the co hostesses, Mrs. Burgess and Mrs. Byars. The Watts home was decora ted for the Christmas season with trees at either side of jthe front entrance enhanced by box wood wreaths with red velvet bows and holly garlands over the front door. The living room featured the Christmas tree decorated with red satin and gold ornaments and gold roping. The mantle was decorated with boxwood gar lands ard gold bells over an antique gold leaf mirror. A white Madonna with gold grapes, Deodora Roses, white tapers and pine were featured on the secretary. The lamp tables held arrangements of white mums and holly glittered in gold. A jewel box lined in green velvet held tiny glittered mums and gold and white jewels. The dining room was lovely with the traditional red and green. The table was covered with a handsome red satin cloth caught at intervals with red net and red carnations and holly. A crystal Epergne held red car nations and holly accented by hurricane lamps with red ta pers. The buffet held silver candlelabra with red velvet grapes and greens. A Iso Christ mas petit fours were placed here. The Credenza was high- * woAnwm NOW PLAYING DECEMBER 23-29 ixx- - ft : lighted with an arrangement of gold roses, gold grapes and a gold, leaf mirror. The silver service was placed at one end of the table and punch was ser ved from the opposite end of the table. The punch bowl fea tured a Christmas Wreath ice ring. Mrs. James H. Thomason Sr. poured coffee andMrs. E.N. Pearson served punch. Mrs. Marion Lawson invited guests into the dining room. Guests enjoyed party dainties including chicken salad tim bales, cheese biscuits, ginger sandwiches, ham biscuits, nuts, mints and petit fours. As the Debs said goodbye, Miss Rachel Ann Simpson pre sented each girl with a gift of a Birthday angel. Also assisting the hostesses in entertaining were Mrs. Jake Rasor Sr., Mrs. Mellette Wham Mrs. Claude Burns, Mrs. Vir gil Simpson, Miss Jane Davis, Miss Janet Simpson, Miss Brenda Watts and Miss Codie Simmons. People You Know Mrs. Joe Neely of Winston- Salem, N.C. spent a few days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Carlisle Neely. The Neelys are expecting their son and daughter-in-law back for the holidays along with their other son, Robert Neely of Atlanta. Miss Marjorie Arnold of Min neapolis, Minn, and Miss Kath ryn Arnold, student at William and Mary, Williamsburg, Va., have arrived home for the holi days with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Arnold. We right all wrongs. 4 Miss Virginia Rogers Marries John McMurry Miss Virginia Adair Rogers exchanged wedding vows with John Lyon McMurray Jr. of Greer Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at Leesville Southern Methodist Church, Clinton. The bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Wiggins Rogers of Old Laurens Road, gave a re ception at Lakeside Country Club. Her grandfather, the Rev. William Thomas Proctor of Ma rion, retired Southern Metho dist minister, heard the vows. Assisting was David Lynwood McDonald of Laurens, a semi nary student and Rev. Gary Bri- den pastor of Leesville Church. The bride’s grandparents are Mrs. Alexander Beil Jacks and the late Mr. Jacks of Clinton and Mr. William Thomas Proc tor of Marion and the late Mr. Proctor. The bride wore a full length gown of candlelight peau-de- soie re-embroidered with Ale- con lace which enhanced the bo dice and long sleeves. A ca thedral train of peau-de-soie was attached at the shoulders. Her bouffant veil of illusion fell from a cresent cap which was appliqued with matching Alecon lace. On December 12, Mrs. Step hen Richard DuBose and Mrs. Charles Randall Green gave a lovely drop-in for Virginia at the home of Mrs. DuBose on Chestnut Extension, Clinton. The home was beautifully deco rated with red carnations and other Christmas decorations. Virginia was remembered with corsage and gift of her chosen pattern in china.
