Mr. Rowland McLaughlin,
student from Presbyterian
College, has completed his
practice teaching in the Math
Department. He did his teach
ing in sections 7-2 and 8-3.
Mr. McLaughlin will graduate
from Presbyterian College this
semester and has accepted a
teaching position in Florence,
S C
The Bell Street Kid Devils’
basketball team, coached by
Mr. Harold Williams, opened
impressively with two consecu
tive victories. The Devils de
feated Hickory Tavern 50-20
before pacing Hillcrest’s five
46-21. Larry Owens leads
scorers with a 17.0 point per
game average. The star ting five
of the Hillcrest game were
Larry Owens, Jerry Golden,
Claude Crocker, Nathaniel
Gary and Derrick Wessinger.
Friday / afternoon, the

Street Bpys’ Chorus visited the
Bailey jHemorial Nursing Home
to present a Christmas pro
gram for the elderly. After
wards they were served re
freshments.
Mr. James Motes of the
Science Department was un
fortunately injured during last
week. We wish Mr. Motes a
very rapid recovery.
This being the last column
for several weeks, we at Bell
Street wish all residents of
Laurens County the happiest
Christmas ever!
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM
The Milam Road Church of
God will present a Christmas
Play entitled “And There They
Found Christ" Saturday, Dec
ember 19 at 7 p.m. in the Milam
Road Church.
Live Manger Scene
The traditional, live manger
scene will be enacted on the
front lawn of the First Presby
terian Church on Monday -
Thursday of next week at7:30-
9:00 p.m.
The young people of the
church will enact the Christ
mas story as a narrator reads
from the Bible and Christmas
carols are heard in the back
ground. The scene will be
presented three times each
night beginning at 7:30, 8:00,
and 8:30 p.m.
You are invited to join the
many Clinton area residents
who have made this annual pre
sentation of the Christmas Story
a part of their Christmas
celebration.
The public is also invited to
attend the annual Christmas
Eve Candlelight Service which
will be on Thursday evening at
7:00 in the sanctuary of the
church.

Church.

Mrs. Faye Wooten and Mrs. Ne-

man, Luther, Lesbon and Haley
Bryant of Greenwood and Mack
Bryant of Joanna; and six
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
at Epworth United Methodist
Church. Burial was in Pine-
lawn Memory Gardens.

Louis Burnside, died Saturday.
She was a daughter of Booker
T. Thompson of Laurens.
Surviving also are her step

Lee, Miss Gloria Martin and
Miss Cynthia Martin of Lau
rens; a brother, Keith Martin

Shady Grove 4-H members
met Thursday afternoon for
their December meeting. The
girls, directed by Mrs. Helen
Camp made Christmas covers
for door knobs. Mr. Reeves
gave a lesson to the boys on
safety during Christmas, he
discussed safety methods to
use with Christmas trees and
Christmas lights. Following the
meeting members filled horns
of plenty with fruit and candy
for some children in the com
munity. Refreshments were
served by Misses Kathy Berry,
and Wanda Rock. Miss Rock
had prepared an unusual pop
corn, gum drop Christmas cake
which was a delight to the
members.

delightful Christmas dinner
