Ralph Bearden, 62, of 202
Gordon St,, died Saturday.
A native of Spartanburg Coun
ty, a son of the late Clarence
Furman and Grace Moore
Bearden, he was formerly em
ployed by Riverdale and Clinton
Mills, and was a member of
Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Maggie Winn Bearden; two
sons, Clarence F. Bearden of
Aiken and Cecil Lee Bearden
of Enoree; a sister, Mrs. Dean

88, of 236 S. Bell St., widow
of Ervin Johnson, died Mon
day, December 7.
A native of Laurens County,
she lived in Clinton for several
years and was a member of
Mt. Zion AME Church and the
Woman’s Aid Society.
Surviving are three dau
ghters, Mrs. Inez Metts, Mrs.
Annie Lou Moore and Mrs.
Elizabeth Ferguson of Clinton,
four sons, Luther and Ervin
Johnson Jr. of Chicago, 111.,
and Arthur and James Johnson
of Clinton two sisters, Mrs.
Carrie Browning of Union and
Mrs. Hestelda Browning of Fant
Jastara, Ohio; two brothers,
Meeks McBeth of Union and
Thomas McBeth of Enoree;
eight grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Sunday at Mt. ZionAME Church
in Joanna. Burial was in the
church cemetery.

Bluford, 72, of Rt. 1, Mount-
ville, widow of Charlie Blu
ford, died Thursday,
She was a member of Zion
Hill Baptist Church in Cross
Hill and the Woman’s Aid So
ciety,
Surviving are two daughters,
Mrs. Daisy Bluford and Mrs.
Annie Mae Coggins of Mount-
ville; four stepsons, James,
Jim, Leroy and Willie Bluford
of -Moantvtne; four stepdaught
ers, Mrs. Elizabeth Fuller,
M:s. Loraine Davis and Mrs.
Annie Lee Ebo of Mountville
and Mrs. Charlie Mae Nance
of Mountville; 50 grandchildren;
75 great - grandchildren; and
30 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday at Zion Hill Baptist
Church. Burial was in the
Church cemetery.

McCORMICK - Mrs. Kate
Padgett Wilkie, 89, of Mc
Cormick, died Wednesday, Dec.
9. She was the mother of William
Clyde Wilkie of Cross Hill.
Other survivors include five
daughters, five other sons,
three half-sisters, 50 grand
children, 52 great - grand -
children and a great - great,
grandchild.

UNION - Otto William Greene
61, of 111 Wilbur St., died Wed
nesday, Dec, 9. A native of
Laurens County, he was a
brother of Mrs. Betty Lanford
and Mrs. Rosie Boyster, both
of Clinton.
Other survivors include his
mother, Mrs. Eva Turner
Greene of Spartanburg; a dau
ghter, a step-daughter, a step
son, two other sisters; four
brothers and three step-grand
children.
Funeral services were con
ducted Friday at Tabernacle
Baptist Church with burial in
Rosemont Cemetery.
