and other refreshments. Jeff
and two other guests, Ronnie
Kelly and Dennis Bagwell, play
ed instruments as part of the
parties entertainment, and Fred
Hill of Williamston sang. The
party was held on Thursday
evening at Mrs. Alice Daven
ports’ home.
Mr. C. L. Higgenbotham of
Anderson spent last Sunday and
Monday with Mrs. Cancie
Brown and while here visited
other relatives.

and Angela of Greenwood visit
ed Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bragg
on Sunday.
Mrs. Delia Russell returned
on Saturday after spending the
week in Greenville with rela
tives.
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Boyce
visited Mr. and Mrs. Claude
Sims on Saturday in Green
wood. On Sunday afternoon they
visited Mr. and Mrs. Guy Mi-
senheimer in Chester.

KOREA
P.F.C. Larry Summers left
BY MRS. W. J. HOGAN
on Sunday, Dec. 13 for Fort
Lewis Washington where he will
be shipped to Korea for 13
months of duty. He has been in
the Army eight months. After
taking his basic training at F ort
Jackson he went to Fort Gordon
for 16 weeks of school in Radio
Relay in communications.
Prior to leaving for Korea, he
spent a 26 day leave with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas

Epworth Methodist Church en
tertained the residents of the
Laurens County Home with a
supper on December 13. The
teacher, Mrs. Mary Simpson
and the group of ladles joined
others in games to suit the
occasion. Mrs. Cancie Brown
had a short devotion and Mrs.
V. L. Wilburn led in prayer.
With Miss Karen Lower at the
piano, Mrs. Simpson led in
singing familar songs which all
enjoyed.
Mrs. Bernice Kinard and
Mrs. Cancie Brown visited
Mrs. Pearl Williams prior to
the above occasion and took her
a gift from the class. She is a
patient at the Laurens County
Hospital.

PC COMPUTER TERMINAL—Two
Presbyterian College students, Ber
nie Nussbaumer of Massilon, Ohio,
and Elizabeth Ivey Jackson of Char
lotte, operate the recently installed
computer terminal teletypewriter
connecting PC with the General Elec
tric Computer Time-Sharing Service
in Cleveland. This insallation, made
available for academic work at PC,
enables students and faculty mem
bers to get a print-out as readily as
if the GE 235 computer were on cam
pus. It is utilized by the computer
science class in writing programs
and by various departments in solv
ing complex problems. William S.
Cannon, associate professor of math
ematics, serves as director of com
puter operations.

DEAR SALLY: At what age
is a boy too old to be left at
home with babysitters? Re
cently when my husband and I
were making plans for an even
ing out, our 13-year-old son
said, “I hope you’ll get the
blonde to sit with me* (this
happens to be a certain 17-year
old neighborhood girl). This
little remark has made us
wonder. Don’t you think we have
reason to wonder? PARENTS.
DEAR PARENTS: Yes. When
a boy is old enough to request
a blonde babysitter, lie’s
usually old enough to sit at
home alone.
DEAR SALLY: My husband
and I have been married for
five years, both work, own a
nice home, and are very happy
but for our own personal rea
sons do not as yet have any
children. This apparently
makes us the objects of over-
wheming curiosity among our
friends (those with children),
who seemingly cannot under
stand our childless situation
and who are continually and
boringly assailing us with that
old cliche, “You don’t know
what you’re missing.* Please,
we’re happy as we are...so, how
can we cope with these
meddlers in our business 0 FED
UP TO HERE.
DEAR FED: You owe
neither apology or explanation
to these illbred busybodies.
Whenever one of them launches
onto the subject, say something
like, “Please, we’ve heard
enough about that, .let’s talk
about something else.*

was running to her mother
every time some little emer
gency popped up in our house
hold. So I was delighted when
my company transferred me to
