Jfcc * Women's World Adair-Young On Thursday, November 26, 1970 at 12 o’clock noon Mrs. Joan Vaughan Adair of Kinards became the bride of James Robert Young of Clinton* The marriage vows were heard by the Reverend A. L. Bixler in the Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church, Clinton, in the presence of the families and small group of friends of the bride and groom. Mrs. James Von Hollen pre sented a program of music. W. E. Young, brother of the groom, and Walter L. Wilson, nephew of the groom, both of Clinton, served as ushers. Richard Kinard Littleton of Kinards was Mr. Young’s best man. Seating the bride’s mother, Mrs. D. M. Vaughan, Sr., of Kinards and neices, Misses Cathy and Susan Vaughan of Joanna, were junior grooms men, CliffM. Adair and Richard V. Adair, sons of the bride. She wore an azalea pink knit dress with matching accessories and car ried a nosegay of deep pink carnations., The bride entered the chapel alone. She wore a mocha cream knit dress with long-sleeved lace bodice and brown accessories. She carried a small wooden Testament temped with pink cymbidium orchids. Her only ornament was a small gold locket which had belonged to her mother. Mr. Young is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Lee Young of 803 N. Adair St., Clinton. He is employed at Truluck Print ing Company. Mrs. Young is the daughter of Mrs. D. M. Vaughan, Sr. and the late Mr. Vaughan of Kinards. She is employed at Hollis Transport Company, Clinton. After the ceremony a re ception was given in honor of the couple by Mrs. D. M. Vaughan, Sr. & Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kinard Littleton at the home of Mrs. Vaughan in Kinards. During the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Young left for a brief wedding trip to points of in terest in Georgia. Davenports Celebrate Golden Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Davenport, Sr. were given a drop-in by their children in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary, which wasonNov. 10. The drop-in was held be tween the hours of two and four on Saturday, November 15 at the Joanna Club House. As the couple entered the room a lovely bronze orchid was pinned on Mrs. Davenport. The color scheme of gold and while was carried through out the room. The serving table, which was attended by Susan Davenport and Mrs. Linda Swy- gert, was overlaid with a gold and white lace cloth, as was the register table near the en trance door. It was attended by Teresa Davenport of Char lotte and Janet Davenport. Both tables held a lovely arrange ment of yellow crysanthmums. Mrs. Geneva Floyd, who did the catering, had made a four tier decorated cake with golden bells on top, home made mints, salted nuts and punch. She also assisted in serving the large number of guests, as they arrived. The Davenports have four sons, John H., Jr., and Mau rice of Joanna, Alva of Char lotte, N. C. and Virlyn, of Sheppard, AFB, Wichita, Texas. All were there except the latter. The couple has nine grandchildren. Mrs. Davenport, who is the former Winifred Ruth Chamlee of Decatur, Georgia, and Mr. Davenport of the Bush River section, greeted many friends, some of whom they had not seen in a long time, bringing back pleasant memories. DISPLAYS ANTIQUE GOWN—Mrs. W. J. Henry is shown at the recent annual bazaar and tea of the Sun Bonnet Garden Club. She is wear ing a gray chambray gown entirely handmade and worn by Miss Arva Henry in 1708. The bazaar and tea were held at Mrs. Dave Roberts’ home in Merrie Oaks. Mrs. Smith is the former Miss Lanelle Curb of Killean, Texas. The couple have another daughter, Jerri. We would like to thank the many friends and relatives, Rev. J. D. Stephens, Rev. J.R. It’s strange how the things we never manage to get bother us more than the things we lose. Jerell and Lynn Cooper got the party season off to a good start last Wednesday night by treating their friends and neighbors to a feast at their vacation home on Lake Green wood. A roaring fire and a big Christmas wreath added to the Joyous mood. This, combined with good food and congenial company provided all that was needed for a fun filled night. All the residents of Horse shoe Lane---the Stephens, the Gaults and the Wilders, invited their friends to drop in at the Stephens home Friday night. The Colonial Williamsburg decor was enhanced by garlands of greenery, red carnations and poinsettia plants. Es pecially pretty was the garland draped on the balustrade. The deep sevags were attached at points with red velvet bows. Centering the candle lit buffet table was a massive arrangement of evergreens and red carnations in a silver epergne. Guests enjoyed an abundant and delicious array of goodies including, Swedish meatballs, raw vegetables and dip, shrimp mold, turnkey, corned beef, cheese puffs, fruit cake and cookies. The hostesses’ mothers, Mrs. Gary Dillard, Mrs. Ansel Godfrey and Mrs. Robert Wilder served punch. What to give a rich rela tive is very special attention. Miss Balkham Honored..
