Brunch Held
Mrs. R. E. Ferguson, Jr.,

brunch on Saturday for the 1970
Debutantes.
Five debs and their mothers,
especially honored were Miss
Joy Gault, Mrs. Cally Gault,

Yellow and white mums were
used in combination with yellow
candles throughout the Hollis
home, carrying out the theme
of “Deb Glow’’.
Juice was served in the den,
and guests were served brunch
from a buffet table covered with
linen and lace. It was enhanced
by a centerpiece of yellow and
white mums and yellow tapers.
Each table was also decorated
with yellow candles and place
cards were held in yellow rose
holders.
Wren Club
Has Meeting
The Carolina Wren Garden
Club met Monday, November
23, at the home of Mrs. Har
wood Nelson.
Mrs. Joel Cox gave a very
interesting devotional pertaui-
ing to our season of
Thanksgiving.
After a short business meet
ing, Mrs. J. F. Ellison, turned
the meeting over to Mrs.
Clarence Stine tt for the
program. All members brought
something they had made to
decorate or give as a Christ
mas gift Everyone enjoyed
seeing many lovely and un
usual items.
The hostesses, Mrs. Nelson
and Mrs. J. E. Wellmaker
served a delicious sandwich
plate.

Debs Enjoy
Harvest Dance
Bar-B-Ranch on Laurens
Highway was the scene of a
“Harvest Dance' on Friday
evening, November 27. The
dance, given by Mr. and Mrs.
Brook’s Mirtin Mills, Sr. and
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Carson Na
bors’, in honor of their
daughters, Rhonda Elaine Mills
and Gloria Dale Nabors, was
enjoyed by the 1970 Debutantes,
dates and friends.
The barn furnished a perfect
setting for the occasion com
plementing a blazing fireplace
was a pot-bellied stove, bales
of hay and table and bench
combinations.
Covering the tables were red
checked clothes, while candles
furnished the illumination for
the tables. The buffet table was
decorated by an arrangement of
fall flowers.
The guests were dressed in
country attire and each deb was
given a cowboy hat to finish her
costumes. “The Original
Uniques’ of Union furnished the
music for the dance. Midway
through the evening the band
broke out into country and
western music and a square
dance was enjoyed by all.
Miss Gault
Is Honored
In Greenville
Clinton debutantes were
guests at a lovely luncheon at
the Greenville Country Club on
Friday, November 27 honoring
Ginger Gault.
Hostesses for the delightful
affair were Mrs. O. L. Carter,
grandmother and Mrs. J. A.
McMahan, aunt of the honoree.
The girls were invited to help
themselves from a tempting
smorgasbord and then found
their places by cards in one
of the sma’l dining rooms,
where a b’ely arrangement of
white and yellow chrysanthe
mums centered the table.
Mrs. Emmie G. McMahan,
85, of 104 West Centennial
Street and the widow of John
Jay McMahan died Sunday at
a local nursing home. She had
lived in Anderson most of her
life until moving to Clinton in
1963. She was a daughter of
the late Prue B. and Ella Keys
Gentry. She was a retired em
ployee of the Electric City
Printing Company in Anderson.
She was a member of the
First Presbyterian Church of
Clinton.

Mrs. Pope Chapman was
hostess to the Copeland-David
son Unit 56 Auxiliary on Tues
day evening at her home.
After the “Preamble” and
singing “America”, Mrs.
Thomas Baldwin, program di
rector for the meeting
introduced Misses Cynthia
Turner, Renie Hollis and Peggy
McKee, who represented the
chapter at Girl’s State last
June. They presented an
interesting account of “What It
Means To Attend Girl’s State.”
Arrangements of beautiful
fall flowers carried out a
Thanksgiving theme throughout
the home. Refreshments were
served buffet style. Mrs. Chap
man was assisted by Mrs.
Frank Miller, Mrs. H. M.
Young, Mrs. W. S. Home and
Mrs. Clyde Smith.
Mrs. S. C. Rowe, President,
presided over a brief business
session.
Century Club
The Century Club will meet
on December 8 at 4:09 o’clock
at the home of Mrs, R. E.
Ferguson, Jr. Members are
asked to note the change in the
place of the meeting.
She is survived by two
daughters: Mrs. Bertie M.
Spencer of Clinton, Mrs.
Emmie M. Tworek of Salmas,
Calif., one son: P. B. Gentry,
Anderson, four sisters: Mrs.
Daisy Willingham, Spartan
burg, Mrs. Bertie Gentry, And
erson, Mrs. Alice Mahaffey,
Anderson; and Mrs. Zella
Thompson, Washington, D.C.
and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were con
ducted Monday at Gray Funeral
Home by Rev. Alfred L. Bix-
ler, burial was in the Ureka
Baptist Church Cemetery.
