T' Broad St. Broad Street United Metho dist Church will present a Thanksgiving program, “We Thank Thee, 0 Lord*, Wed nesday night, November 25 at 7:00 p.m. Participating in the service will be: Mike Norris, Bill Childs, Jane Yarborough, Mrs. J. B. Speake, Mrs. Helena Pitts, Sammy Smith, Phil Kirby, Mark Cunningham, Bill Walker, Keith Bouknight, Mimi Braswell, Jim LyBrand, Georgianna Hellams, Glenn Chaney,Sue WordandDr. and Mrs. Grene Womble and family. Special music will be by the chancel choir, under the direc tion of Mrs. Barbara Hellams, and by the children’s choir, under the direction of Mrs. Don Creighton. Rev. Ben Cunning ham will be the narrator. St. John’s St. John’s Lutheran Church will observe Thanksgiving with a special service on Wednes day evening, November 25th, at 7:30 p.m. The focus for this thanksgiving service will be the stance of thanksgiving of the family of faith as a gathered people. This focus will be brought out by the offerings of canned gmds and stamples by families with abundance for families m need. The high light of the thanksgiving ser vice will be ttie celebration of Holy Communion as the source of strength and thanksgiving for the churcft family. The public is invited. Joanna Baptists The First Baptist Church of Joanna will hold the first ser vice in the new sanctuary Sun day, November 29 at the regular worship service. The church was destroyed by fire several years ago. Rev. Edwin D. Pierce pastor of church. is Christian Scion c« A special service on Thanks giving Day has been announced by Christian Science Society in Saluda at 105 West Church St Traditional music for the occasion will include hymn of gratitude sung by the congrega tion. Open to people of all faiths, the service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 26 at 10:30 a.m. No collections of any kind are to be taken. Time will be provided for a period of prayer and for the individual expression of grati tude by members of the con gregation. The First Reader, Mr. John Allen Long, and Mrs. Allie Garlington, the Second Reader, will conduct the service. All are welcome. About People You Know Mrs. J.B. Speake will have all of her children and grand children home for the Thanks giving holidays. Returning to visit with Mrs. Speake will be Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Blakely of Atlanta, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. R.P. Skenes of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Wood of Stamford, Conn. Miss Agnes Davis and Mrs. Charles Workman have re turned from a trip to the Hawaiian Islands where they visited Miss Davis’ niece Mrs. Jim Kupp and Dr. Kopp, who is interning at Tripler Medical Center. They visited in Hono lulu, the island of Oahu and several other islands. On the return trip they visited Mrs. Workman’s nephew and niece, Lt. and Mrs. Reed Todd Bo- lick who are stationed in San Diego, California. They visit ed Disneyland and many other interesting places in Southern California. Mountville Baptist A special Thanksgiving wor ship service will be held at Mountville Baptist Church on Thursday night, November 26, at 7:30 p.m. The pastor, Rev. Loyd Melton, will conduct the ser vice. The public is invited. Tabernacle A week-end Revival will be held at the Faith Tabernacle Church on the Whitmire Road at Joanna, beginning Thursday through Sunday with services each evening at 7:30 p.m. Rev. Allen preaching. Poss will be Featured during the services will be the Friendly Creek Indians of Port Switch, Ala bama. The full bloodied Indians will be in full Indian dress. The public is invited. Board Asks For Activa HR Group The Board of Directors of the Clinton Chamber of Com merce voted last week to re quest that city officials reactivate the Clinton Human Relations Committee. The board voted to request the mayor and city councilman to reactivate the Human Re lations Committee and have it meet on a regular basis. Also at the regular monthly board meeting, a motion was approved commending Mrs. Madison Pitts for her efforts in organizing and staging a parade and street dance last week in connection with the area’s Tricentennial Week celebration. The board also asked Chamber of Commerce Presi dent Ralph Patterson to ar range a program of informa tion concerning the proposed beltline route between Highway 72 North and 72 South. K«ep Rocks Out Of Leaves Clinton residents are re quested to remove all limbs, bottles, rocks and other hard objects from piles of leaves which are placed on the road side to be picked up by Streets Dept trucks. Streets Dept. Supt. Eddie Mc Gee said the piles of leaves are picked up by mechanical means and the hard objects can damage the equipment. Clinton Mills 'Old Timers’ Meet Sunday The Clinton Mills OLD TIMERS’ Banquet will be held Sunday, November 29, at 1:00 p.m. in Greenville Hall on the Presbyterian College campus. A luncheon honoring more than 200 active and retired employees who have completed 25 or more years of service is planned. Clinton Mills President Ro bert M. Vance will present en graved gold watches and diamond set service awards to B. B. Stroud, Daniel W. Os borne, Hobert Phillips, Willie Earl Braswell and James N. Creswell. Also, Marion M. Knight, Janie R. Clark, Mell Huey, Cloa L. Dunaway, Sallie John son and Lucille Woody. Also, Perry C. Parrish, Ro berta Prince, Oliver Estes, Earl Nelson and J. A. Black, Jr. Twelve employees will be recognized for having com pleted forty years of service. These include Nathan Cannor^ E. E. Gaggle,- Casey Little, Forest Samples, Oscar B. Kin- ard, Coley Campbell, C. F. Oakley, Dan Dunaway. And Marvin Whitmire, Clyde Trammell, Kate Riddle and Helen Mattox. Mrs. Riddle SPARTANBURG-Mrs. Donna Violet Carwell Riddle, 70, of Route 4, Spartanburg, died Fri day. She was a sister of Lee Carwell of Clinton. Other survivors include a son, a daughter, a sister, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services were con ducted Sunday at Glendale Pen tecostal Holiness Church with burial in Glendale Cemetery. Troy Burton Troy Burton, infant son of Tommy Richard and Virginia Smith Burton, died Thursday. Surviving also are a brother, Tommy Richard Burton of the home; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude L.
