MOON WOMEN DAY On Sunday at 12:30 many members and well wishers gathered at St John Baptist Church, Cross Hill, S. C. to witness the annual Women Day Program. After the devotion service conducted by Mrs. Lillie G. Bluford, Mrs. Pearl Cunn ingham and Mrs. Allen, music was rendered by the Herald Angels and The Bells of Heaven. The guest speaker Mrs. Aurelia D. Moon used* Women- Do Your Job* as a subject. She reminded the listeners that there is a job for all to do and we must dedicate or rededicate our lives to do the job. Mrs. Geneva Theodore, Mrs. Johnie Makins and Mrs. J. W. GrifCn were mistresses of ceremonies. Dinner was serv ed. Rev. S. C. Cureton is pastor of the church. PASTORS ANNIVERSARY The 8th Anniversary of Rev. James Gray’s pastorate at Zion Hill Baptist Church was held on Sunday evening at 7:30. The welcome was given by Mrs. Lucile Allen. Mrs. Gelena Motes gave an appreciation to the pastor. The flowers were pinned on Rev. and Mrs. Gray by Mr c '. Lillie R. Jones and Mrs. Jessie M. Williams. Rev. A. L Brackett of In man, S. C. pastor of Laurel Hill Baptist Church was the guest speaker. He used as a theme The Man Of The Hour. Mr. James Motes presented the gifts to the pastor. Music was rendered by St. John, Bethel, New Prospect and Zion Hill Choirs. Rev. and Mrs. Gray ex pressed thanks to all. HONORS PASTOR The 13th Anniversary of Rev. A. Jones was celebrated at Mount Moriah Baptist Church on Sunday morning during the regular worship service. Following the Sunday School the guest minister Rev. James Farr brought a very informa tive message from the subject Events. Mr. Thomas J. Rice, Mrs. Minnie Young and Mr. George Briggs spoke on the present pastorate. The church history was given by Mr. Thomas H. Rice. The presentation of the gifts was by Mr. Charles Rice. Mrs. Irene Price was mistress of ceremonies. During the 62nd session of the Piedmont (AME) Con ference the following appoint ment of local interest were made for the coming year: Friendship-Mount Pleasant- Rev. W. E. Crumlin. The election of committee men will be held on Sunday, November 29 at 5 p.m. at Friendship AME Church. Any young man 21 years or older is urged to attend this meeting and help in our campaign for committee men. This is a non-profit organ ization. But remember man power begins with boy power. Eddie L. Redd, Jr. assistant Scout Master. Members of Boy Scout Troop 178 and assistant scoutmaster, Mr. Eddie R. Redd Jr. visited Scoutmaster Clyde Lindsay Jr. in Self Hospital on Sunday even ing. Mr. Lindsay is a patient there following an accident. Rev. Peter Moon was guest speaker at Rock Hill Baptist Church No. 2, Greenville on Sunday morning. Mr. Alvin Davis is chairman of the deacon board. Following this service Rev. Moon attended the installation of Rev. Freddie L. Wicker as pastor of Little Beaverdam & Renwick Grove Baptist Churches, Newberry County. AWARDS BANQUET The Laurens District Blue Ridge Council of Boy Scouts of America held its annual awards banquet at Presbyterian College dining hall Tuesday, November 17, 1970 at 7:30 p.m. The invocation was given by Rev. W. D. Coker. Troop 178 received the Camporee Award. Among the many attending the banquet were Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Reed Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lindsay, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Price, Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher Pruitt, Mr. Spurgeon Dendy, Mrs. Josh Savage and LaVette and Mr. Herbert Adams. Mr. and Mrs. Casey Wilson spent the week-end inSoperton, Ga. with Mr. and Mrs. Delmus Gtllis and Francina. Enroute home they visited Mr. and Mrs. Hervey Walker in McCormick. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Wilson and Mrs. Mattie Johnson and Anthony spent the week-end In N. Y. and Washington with Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Lee Wilson. Rev. and Mrs. W. E. Crum lin will spend the Thanksgiving Holidays with Attorney James A. Crumlin and family in Louis ville, Kentucky. Rev. Crumlin will speak for an Inter - Denominational Thanksgiving Service in the city of Louisville. Mr. Henry A. Motes has re turned to his home in Cross Hill after being a patient at Self Hospital following an acci dent. COMING EVENTS The Gideon Club will spon sor the crowing of Miss Afro on December 6, 1970 at 5 p.m. at Friendship AME Church. More than a dozen young ladies are competing for the title.
