PC Grads Return For
Homecoming Weekend
Hundreds of Presbyterian
College alumni will return to
the campus this Saturday for the
1970 Homecoming festivities
that will feature awards, new
officers, barbecue, football and
the reunion of 18 classes.
Among the special events will
be the presentation of the
Alumni Gold P Award to Harry
S. Dent, 1951 graduate who
serves as counsel to President
Richard M. Nixon, and the
Alumni Service Award to Dr.
Delmar 0. Rhame of Clinton
These presentations ' are
scheduled for the 1 p.m. Alumni
Association program in Beik
Auditorium, at which time the
newly elected 1971 Association
Bake Sale
The Florida Street Elemen
tary PTA will hold a Bake Sale
on November 21, starting at
10 a.m. in front of Belks’ Dept.
Store.

Age Proof
Clinic
In Joanna
A proof of age clinic will
be held at the Joanna Com
munity Center on Monday, Nov
ember 9, from 1:00 p.m. until
6:00 p.m. If you are in the
tfe 50 to 65 range, you are
invited to attend.
The purpose of this clinic
is to help you get satisfactory
proof of age. Five interviewers
from the Greenwood Social
Security Office will be there.
Waiting time should not exceed
30 minutes. If you have any
evidence of age, bring it with
you.
Fair Winners

winners and to those who re
ceived awards at the Laurens
County Fair.
In the community ex
hibits the junior winners were:
1st, County-wide 4-H;''
Camak, 3rd Whitten Village;
and 4th, 4-H Council. The
Future Farmers of America
exhibit was not in competition,
but it was an excellent exhibit.
The adult boothes: Mountville
Community Center won lst;Ca-
mak Homemakers Club, 2nd;
and Barksdale Homemakers
Club won 3rd.
In the dairy show Miss
Bonnie Sparks from Mount
ville had the Champion Holstein.

Jayceea Plan
Honey Sunday
Clinton Jaycees will stage
their “Honey Sunday* sale Sun
day afternoon.
In a house-to-house canvass,
Jaycees will sell honey with
proceeds going to Camp Hope
-and mental retardation pro
jects.
YMCA Dance
Set Saturday
A dance, sponsored by the
Clinton YMCA, will be held
Saturday night at the YMCA.
The dance will start at 8 p.m.
and will conclude at 11 p.m.
Music will be furnished by
the “Dry Land Sea Circus*
from Anderson. Admission will
be $1 per person.
Chaperones will be in at
tendance.

Jaycees Bury
Time Capsule
Laurens Jaycees will bury
a “time capsule* Thursday,
November 12, on the Laurens
County Courthouse square.
The sealed capsule will in
clude pri>ducts, news articles,
pictures and club membership
rosters representative of this
area in 1970. Anyone wishing
to have something included in
the capsule should take it to
the Clinton Chamber of Com
merce office by noon Friday or
should contact David George,
Jr. in Laurens.

PTA Moots
The Florida Street Elemen
tary PTA meeting was held on
Tuesday night The program
was conducted by the 5th grade
singing Tricentennial Songs and
featured a readying by Mr.
Eddie McGee, “One Nation
Under God.*
During the meeting 23 new
members joined the PTA.
The Homecoming schedule
will open at 10 a.m. with re
gistration in the Douglas House
and the fall meeting of the
alumni board of directors.
Class reunions, starting at 10:30
a.m. in Neville Hall Class
rooms, are built around the
classes of 1919, 1920, 1921,1922,
1930, 1935, 1938, 1939, 1940,
1941, 1945, 1955, 1957, 1958,
1959, 1960, 1965, 1968.
After the 11:30 a.m. barbecue
under the campus oaks adjacent
to Belk Auditorium the annual
meeting of the PC Alumni As
sociation will be held in Belk
and will be followed there by
the meeting of the Walter John
son Club, alumni athletic or
ganization.
Homecoming activities will
close with the 2:30 p.m. footbalj
game between Presbyterian and
GarAier-Webb on Johnson
Field.
Adding to the day’s festivi
ties will be the campus decora
tions by the six social frater
nities and other student groups,
and music provided by the
award-winning Abbeville High
School band.
Adult Sewing
Classes Begin
On Monday
Adult sewing classes will
begin Monday night, November
9, in the Clinton High School
Home Economics Department.
Classes will be held from 7
p.m. until 9 p.m. and will be
held for six weeks.
There is no charge for the
class which is co-sponsored
by School District 56 and the
South Carolina Department of
Education.

Miss Riddle
JOANNA - Miss Emma Jean
Riddle, 35, died Tuesday in
Clinton.
A lifelong resident of Joanna,
daughter of Mrs. Hattie Fuller
Riddle Motes of Joanna and the
late Eugene Riddle. She was a
former employe of Beacon
Restaurant and Joanna Mills.
Surviving also are her step
father, Jesse Motes of Joanna;
two sisters, Miss Barbara Anne
Riddle and Miss Linda Faye
Riddle of Joanna; and two step
brothers, David Motes of Spart
anburg and Luther Motes of
North Augusta.
Funeral services will be at
3 p.m. Thursday at Epworth
Methodist Church. Burial will
be in Hopewell Methodist
Church cemetery.

trip to the Holy Land, and Athens
Greece, March 9 through 19,

Tomb, the Dead Sea, Bethany,

City of Jericho, Samaria,
Nazareth, Tiberias, The Sea
of Galilee, Capernaum, Mount
Carmel, Caesarea, The Mount
of the Beatitudes, Canna of
Galilee and many other spots of
great interest
The group will then visit
Athens, Greece, and the old
city of Corinth, and many
other spots of interest.

9 from the point of grouping,
