Roosevelt breaks precedent, wins third term-- Roosevelt wins wide margin by holding 39 states with total of 468 lectoral votes. ‘THE SENTINEL,* Clinton High School students’ publica tion, is headed this year by Betty Hunter as editor. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Holland Hunter'’. Mr. and Mrs. Tay Ray, J. Lee Willard and Jean Copeland attended the Newberry Fair Thursday. Miss Inez Young, student at Lander College, Greenwood, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John T. Young. Alvin Bagwell will celebrate a birthday November 9. Charles Johnson, Jr. has a birthday the 12th. Patsy and Pete Williams, twin brother and sister at Thornwell Orphanage, will be seven years old November 9th. Mr. and Mrs. J. Eu gene Parham of High Point, N. C., is the evangelist to speak each night at 7:30 o’ clock. Everyuqjja invited. Maj. Ray Stationed In England U. S. Air Force Major John W. Ray, son of Mrs. Joe Hall, North Church Street, Whitmire, has arrived for duty at Al- conbury RAF Station England. Major Ray, a pilot in a unit of the U. S. Air Forces in Europe, previously served at Korat Royal Thai AFB, Thai land. The major holds the aeron autical rating of senior pilot. A 1950 graduate of Whitmire High School, he received his A. B. degree in journalism in 1954 from the University of South Carolina, where he was commissioned through the Air Force Reserve Officers Train ing Corps program. The major’s wife, Ruth, is the daughter of Mrs. J. V. Glenn, Musgrove Ave., Clinton. Pitts Member Select Choir Sidney Pitts, a junior at Lenoir Rhyne College, re presented his school at the Tenth Anniversary Interna tional Church Music Seminar held at Gustavus Adolphus Col lege in St. Peter, Minn. October 14-18. He was a member of the Eighth Select Choir composed of vocalists from 32 Lutheran colleee choirs m North America. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Pitts of Clinton, he is majoring in music and plans to be a teacher. * * * Davidson St. Revival Held Revival services are in pro gress at Davidson Street Baptist Church this week and will con tinue through Sunday morning. C., Nov. 5. 1970—1-C Judge Wasson Heads Easter Seal Society New state officers have been elected and assumed office for thel970-’71 year of the Easter Seal Society for Crippled Child ren and Adults of South Caro lina, according to Mrs. T. Jack- son Lowe, Executive Director. Andersens Attend Market High Point, N. C. - Style and fashion introductions by furniture manufacturers at the Southern Furniture Market now in progress are attracting re tailers from throughout the na tion. Among the thousands who have registered at the Southern Furniture Exposition Building are: J. E. Anderson, Barbara Anderson and Chloe Anderson of Anderson Furniture Com pany in Clinton. The international style in troductory events are held in October and April in High Point, the fashion center of the fur niture industry. Art Exhibit The Clinton Office Supply Co. is presently furnishing space in its window on Broad Street for an up to the minute 1970 ex hibition of drawings and paint ings by fourteen young Clinton artists, ages eigtyt to fourteen, students of Mrs. Frost Walker. The exhibition will remain at Clinton Office Supply through November 8. The Honorable J. Hewlette Wasson, Probate Judge of Lau rens County, is the new presi dent assuming these duties from Colonel William R. Risher of Bamberg. Judge Wasson has long been active in Easter Seal work serving as both chairman of Laurens County and as a State Vice President. Three vice presidents in clude: W. W. Bruner, Colum bia, President of the First National Bank of South Caro lina, which has 45 branches in 18 cities. In addition Mr. Bruner currently is President of the South Carolina Bankers As sociation. Richardson M. Hanckel, Charleston, was re-elected Easter Seal Society State Vice President. He is President of Coburg Diary, Inc. which has 12 branches throughout the state, the home office being in Charleston. John C. Bernhard, Florence, is a newly elected vice presi dent. He is District Public Re lations Manager, Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Com pany and has hadextensive ser vice affiliation with national voluntary agencies including the Boy Scouts of America and United Fund; Carolinas Dis trict Public Relations Chair man for Kiwanis and member also of the Kiwanis Interna tional Public Relations Com mittee. John G. P. Boatwright, Columbia, Senior Vice Presi dent, Bankers Trust of South Carolina, which has 47 branch es in South Carolina, serves as the new treasurer, taking over Mr. Bruner’s duties. The Society’s 24-member Board also includes newly elected designees to serve for a three-year term including: presentatlve of the Robinsoo- Humphrey Company, Inc.; for mer Treasurer and Chairman, Richland County Easter Seal Committee. Philip T. Kelly, Jr., New berry, Alumni Secretary and former Dean, Newberry Col lege; current Chairman, New berry County Easter SealCom- mittee, was elected to serve a two-year term.
