DEAR SALLY: I’m looking
for a husband for my widowed
mother-in-law, a very attrac
tive woman of 45 who lives with
us. She and I formerly got along
very well, but not since she has
made her home with us. Our
personalities constantly clash,
and life is misery for me. In
my husband’s eyes, she can do
no wrong -- but tiien he isn’t
home all day, and his mother and
I are. How can I get her married
off without giving her (and my
husband) the impression that I
am trying to get rid of her (as
I’d like to do)? BADGERED.
DEAR BADGERED: Assuming
that your mother-in-law has any
interest in marrying again, you
can start the ball rolling by in
troducing her to a few eligible
prospects.
DEAR SALLY: I’m a girl of
19, but look older. One of the
executives in the department
store at which I work has shown
a big interest in me. He is a
divorced man of 49, who looks
much younger and has taken me
to some very expensive places.
So far he hasn’t made any passes
at me, outside of goodnight
kisses. I think I could fall in
love with him. Do you think he’s
too old for me? BABS
DEAR BABS: The very fact
that you’re asking me indicates
you already know the answer.

DEAR SALLY: My wife is a
sweet and intelligent woman, but
when she has had one drink she
becomes completely unstrung,
and begins to babble out words
that are anything but “accept
able’’ in polite society. This is
really embarassing to me at the
parties and other functions we
attend. Always later at home,
when the effect of her drinks
has worn off, she is terribly
sorry and promises never
again.
But still it keeps happening.

you and your wife discuss this
seriously, and if she is as sweet
and intelligent as you say, she’ll
listen. If she doesn’t want to
ask for a soft drink at these
parties, you can help give her
the appearance of “one of the
gang* by quietly mixing her a
ginger ale with a cherry In It
DEAR SALLY: I am a young
unmarried man, and would like
very much to date a certain
ptty girl who works for the
same company as I do. Some
of my colleagues, however, tell
me It’s bad business to make
dates where you do business.

If this girl works in another
department of your firm, It
might be all right. But use
extreme caution if you happen
to be the kind of person who
finds it difficult to disentangle
himself when such a relation
ship blows up. A shattered ro

continuous daily contact.
DEAR SALLY: I’m a widow of
51, and it’s no secret In town
that I was left substantially well
fixed in a financial way by my
late dear husband. Since I am
still considered quite attractive,
I don’t lack for male compan
ionship--bachelors and wi
dowers. However, my sister
keeps claiming that these men
are primarily interested In my
money, and as a result l am

ous whenever a man shows a
more than passing Interest in

listening to your sister, and be

inordinate fondness for money by
any person will inevitably re

that is now broke. Don’t you

has cost them the money which
was to help finance their mar
riage.

think of a husband who, after
seven years of marriage, still
