) Women's World Miss Vicki Brown Wed In Joanna Ceremony Miss Vickie Louise Brown became the bride of James Earl Tumblin at the Epworth United Methodist Church, Jo anna on Friday, October 2. Rev. Leland Rinehart performed the seven o’clock ceremony. A reception was given in the church social hall. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Claude Brown of 127 Tillman Circle, Joanna and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Grover Hamp ton Tumblin, Sr. of Route 1, Gray Court. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white bridal satin of A-line designed, fashioned with an em broidered nylon tulle bodice. The three quarter bell sleeves which were also of embroider- €RHulle were scalloped at the edge, and a full cathedral train of same scalloped material was attached to the shoulders. Tiers of bridal illusion were attached to a crown of seed pearls and rhinestones for a bouffant ef fect. She carried a bride’s bouquet Matron of honor, Claudia Floyd of Joanna, sister of the bride wore a full length gown of yellow satin, designed with an empire waist, scoop neck line and short sleeves, with a train effect enhancing the back. Her matching forward caplet held a bouffant yellow veil of illusion. Miss Toni Gresham of Jo anna, neice of the bride was flower girl. She wore a dress similar to the matron of honor. Frank Gresham, nephew of the bride, of Joanna was ring- bearer. Organist was Susan Lindsay and soloist was Gloria Longshore, both of Joanna. Best man was Grover Hampton Tumblin, father of the groom. Ushers were Larry Brown of Joanna and Grover Tumblin of Gray Court, brother of the groom. Mrs. Janet Gardner of Joanna directed the wedding. Mrs. Tumblin attended Jo anna and Clinton Schools and is employed at Torrington Com pany. Mr. Tumblin attended Hickory Tavern School. He is employed at Ascoe Felt. Camp Fir© News Twenty one members of Mrs. Kirley Coxwell’s Junior Hi Camp Fire Girls visited the Keowee-Toxaway Project near Clemson on Saturday. The group was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rogers, Mrs. Buddy Oakley, Mrs. Cox- well, Dean Coxwell and Tommy Oakley. After a tour and films the group had a picnic lunch at the visitors center. Mrs. Bobby Cason’s Camp Fire group recently visited City Hall and was taken on a guided tour. Mrs. Madison Pitts Nintt grade Horizon girls and theli guests enjoyed a hay ride to the lake home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cheek. The group had a welner roast Chaperons were Mr. and Mrs. Madison Pitts, Mr. and Mrs. HaroldCheekand Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rice. This group will hold a bake sale on Saturday, October 24 in front ofBelk Fashion Center. The pub lic is invited to attend. Miss Black Honored Miss Harriet Black, whose wedding to Lucien McKee is planned for November 6, was honored on Saturday afternoon with a drop-in given by Mrs. J. D. McKee. Receiving guests with Miss Black were Mrs. McKee, Mrs. Paul Hartsell, Mrs. McKee’s mother of Taylors, Mrs. A. B. Stump and Miss AHison Stump. Fall flowers were used throughout the home. Federation will join with clubs across the nation in ob serving National Business Wo men's Week October 18-24. Es tablished in 1928 Business Wo man's Week honors all women who work, now numbering more than 29 million in the United States. It calls attention to their accomplishments of the past and present, and spotlights the urgent need for construc tive use of women’s full capabilities in business and professions in the years ahead. Mrs. Brunelle Chandler is serving as National Business Women’s Week chairman. Po sters spotlighting NBW Week are in windows in the down town area. Study Club Has Meeting Wednes'iay at the Study Club, Mrs. K. E. Sturgeon read “Home Work", by Ben Ames Williams. Mr. Williams, a re- nouned writer has had his books published and republished in the United States and in Europe. In this story, which depicted life at a boy’s school, a splendid deliberation of the head master’s character was given and his influence told on molding and shaping the stu dents character and persona lities. The Club members meet ing at Mrs. Thornwell Dun lap’s on the Greenwood High way, were served a salad course, coffee and tarts at the dining room table which was centered with red roses. Miss Smith Marries Charles Clarence Sawfelle Miss Sara Katherine Smith of Kinards and Mr. Charles Clarence Sawtelle of Dallas, Texas were united in marriage in a ceremony which took place Saturday, October 17, at 7 p.m. in Bush River Baptist Church. Rev. Thomas G. Daum of ficiated at the double ring cere mony. Wedding music was pre sented by Mrs. Larry Daniel son, organist and Mrs. Lamar Leightsey of Greenwood, soloist. The bride was e scorated and given in marriage by her fath er. She wore her mother’s wedding gown, a Paris Original of ivory silk net featuring a molded bodice with a sweet heart neckline and butterfly sleeves. The full skirt of double net extended in a Cathedral train. A wide band of Chantilly lace gave a mantilla effect to her full length veil of bridal illusion. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses and stephonotis centered by a white orchid. Her only ornament was a strand of pearls, gift of the bridegroom. Mrs. Edwin Hentz of Colum bia, sister of the bride, served her sister as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Nancy Smith of Hilton Head Island and Miss Caroline Smith of New berry, cousins of the bride, Mrs. Lloyd Fiedler and Miss Mary Welborn of Dallas, Texas. The attendants wore identical floor length gowns of cerise chiffon over peau de soie with long chiffon sleeves. The empire waistline was accented by bands of gold braid. They wore cerise “wedding ring" headpieces covered with gold braid and carried bouquets of golden spider chrysanthemums and ivy. Miss Sherry Sawtelle of Dal las, niece of the groom, was junior bridesmaid. Miss Mary Katherine Hentz of Columbia neice of the bride and Miss Stacy Sawtelle of Dallas neice of the groom, were flower girls. Their pale pink dresses were similar in style to those of the other attendants. Serving as honorary brides maids were MissBobbySmith of Anderson and Miss Ellen Thompson of Columbia, cousins of the bride and Miss Diane Bragg of Dallas. Mr. Raymond Sawtelle, Jr. of Dallas served as his bro ther’s best man. Grooms men included Dr. Edwin Hentz of Columbia, brother-in-law of the bride, Mr. TimothySawtelle of Waterburg, Vermont, bro ther of the groom, Dr. Loyd Fiedler and Mr. Robert Young of Dallas. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Wade Smith of Kinards, is a 1966 graduate of Anderson College. She is a Stewardess for Delta Air lines. The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Sawtelle of Waterbury, Vermont, attended the University of Vermont. He is Sales Representative for Love Envelope Company of Dallas.
