Mrs. Fred Bragg, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Cannon, Michael Cannon and Mr. and Mrs. Les ter Longshore of Clinton attended the Gospel Singing in Spartanburg on Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Motes of Kinards visited Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bragg on Sun day afternoon. <v Mr. and Mrs. Barron O’ Shields, Bobby, Billy and Buck visited Mr. and Mrs.E. N. Sons in Little Mountain on Sunday. Mrs. Dot Tucker of Laurens was a week-end guest of Mrs. Jettie Norris. CHANDLER RE-ENLEST S/Sgt. Joseph C. Chandler has returned from a year tour of duty in Korea. After a 30 day leave here with Mrs. Vir ginia Hazel and other relatives and in Laurens with his mother Mrs. James Brewington and Mr. Brewington, he will re turn to Korea. S/Sgt. Chandler has been in service for four years, with ^ne year being in Viet Nam. IN HOSPITAL Roland Godfrey is a surgi cal patient at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood. Mrs. Floyd Pitts and Miss Bonnie Pitts had as their guest on Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Roy Crisp of M'»intville, Mr. and Mrs. WUliam Lynn J Capris- tan Beach, California, Mr. and Mrs Jim Slice d Oa* Ridge, Tenn. and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dunn of Greensboro, N. C. They all attended Homecoming at Duncan Creek Presbyterian Church. This was the church’s 200th anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sexton joined by Mrs. Fioyl Pitts and Miss Bonnie Pitts enjoyed last week-end in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and >ther p >ints of interest in the Smokey M un- tains. A friend J Miss Godfrey’s, Miss Carolyn De vore, of Greenwood, enjoyed the trip with her. BIRTHS MONTJOY Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Mont- joy announces the birth of a son, Cecil Wayne, Jr. on Sept ember 28. She is the former Betty Jo Wham of Fountain Inn. They have a five year old daughter, Tammy. GRUBER Mr. and Mrs. robert Gru ber ofNewberg, Mo. announce the birth of a daughter, Rose Mary, on October 2nd. She is the former Jean Foster ofNew berg, Mo. Mr. Gruber, who is formerly of Joanna, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Gru ber. EDMONDS Mr. and Mrs. George Ed monds announce the birth of a son, Mickey Ray, on October 10 at Bailey Memorial Hospi tal. She is the former Paulette Rowe. IN VIETNAM Pvt. Ronnie Norris, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Norris, spent a few days at home recently and on September 25th left from Oakland, California to begin a years tour of duty in Vietnam. SURPRISE DINNER Relatives and friends sur prised Mr. and Mrs.CarlNor- ris with a dinner at the Norris home last Sunday. On Friday, Lida Connell, 4-H DISPLAY — Pictured are Carol Dailey and Amelia Finley in front of the 4-H display that they placed in the window of Belk’s Department Store. They are members of the Cross Hill 4-H Club. 4-H Week Observed National 4-H Week was ob served from October 4-10. This week marked the beginning of 4-H for the coming year. Five senior 4-H girls placed dis plays in department store win dows to help others become more aware of the 4-H Club. Deoble Stoddard, Virginia Ann Weathers and Joann Woods, members of the Green- pond 4-H Club, placed a dis play in the window of Belk’s Department Store in Laurens. Two senior members of the Cross Hill 4-H Club, Carol Dailey and \melia Finley, placed a display in the window of Bclk’s Department Store in Clinton. 4-H membership is open to any urban or rural boy or girl between the ages of 9 and 19. Each member chooses a pro ject to work on for the coming year. Mr. and Mrs. Earle John son and Frank were in Green- wood Saturday and Sunday afternoon. A number of relatives in the community attended the burial of Mrs, Corine Workman Milam at Blythe Funeral Home in Greenwood. Mis. Mil am was a niece of the late Mrs. J. P. Johnson Sr. and Mrs. Fred Johnson.
