My Neighbors “May I plrait? have a note -my *ife in going to accuse me of being deliberately tardy." DEAR SALLY BY SALLY SHAW DEAR SALLY: I am a young married man, a junior execu tive in my company, and sched uled to attend a convention in another city to which I am supposed to take my secretary. This is perfectly all right with my wife and also with my secretary’s husband—but I am wondering very much about the other employees in our company who have shown an excessive proneness in the past to gos sip. Is there anyway I can still the clattering tongues and preserve the spotless re reputation of my secretary and myself? CONCERNED. DEAR CONCERNED: If the possibility of loose talk really bothers you so much, you might arrange for your secre tary to leave a day before or a day after you go yourself, and return in the same man ner. She might also stay at a different hotel than you do. DEAR SALLY: I’m a girl of 21, and am becoming in creasingly worried over the alcoholism of my fiance. He is hitting the bottle far too often and far too mjch so far as I am concerned, but when I attempt to reason with him about it he tells me not to worry and that our marriage will settle hime down. Do you agree with this? RENEE. DEAR RENEE: No. Marriage is not a cure for your fiance kind of sickness. I advise you to tell him once and for all that either he breaks off with the bottle or you’ll break off with the engagement. Then, if he does abide by your wishes, give it PLENTY of time be fore you make any wedding plans, plenty of time for him to give you proof positive he is off the sauce because mar riage to an alcoholic is in variably disastrous.
