Walker Wins Roll-Off
The Clinton Womens Bowling
Association had the bowler of
the year roll off at Palmetto
Lanes September 13, with Shir
ley Walker being the winner.
Shirley had a series of 597. To
be ellglbile for the roll off a
lady must have won the bowler
of the month during the year.
The high single game of the
roll off was a 193 by Shelba
Ross.
The ladies Palmetto League
started the winter season Mon
day, September 14, with eight
teams of three bowlers.
The officers of the league
are: President, Jean Dawkins;
vice president, Christine Walk
er; secretary, Esther Keller;
treasurer, Brenda Jenkins;
sergeant - at - arms, Carolyn
Kelly.
The league will bowl for
twenty eight weeks.

Thornwell Coach Ben Crab
tree hopes to have his football
squad back at full strength for
the first time in two weeks Fri
day night.
The Saints will play host to
S. C. School for the Deaf in a
conference clash which will
start at 8 .m.
Thornwell had only 15 players
dressed out last Friday in a
52-0 loss to highly ranked Lock
hart. The loss dropped Thorn-
well’s conference mark to 1-2
and the overall record is 1-3.
SCSD has an 0-2 conference re
cord.
Coach Crabtree said,'Lock
hart was just to big and too
strong for us.” Complicating
Coach Crabtree’s hopes for an
upset was the fact that flu struck
down several key Thornwell
players.
The Lockhart Red Devils
scored seven out of the ten
times they had the ball. The
visitors struck in the first quar
ter on a 36-yard pass, added
two more touchdowns in the
second quarter and was ahead
24-0 at halftime. Lockhart
crammed 21 points into the
third quarter and tallied another
in the fourth.
Thornwell threatened late in
the fourth quarter, moving to
Lockhart's seven but couldn’t
get into the end zone.
