Women's World Miss Albertson Weds Heyward Hanley Davis Miss Teresa Albertson, dau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Al bertson Sr. of Route one, El- berton, Georgia, and Heyward Stanley Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L Davis of Route One, Hodges, S. C. were married September 5 at Fortsonia Bap tist Church in Elberton, Georgia. The bride’s father gave her in marriage and the bride groom’s father served as his sen’s best man. The Reverend Ralph Crosby performed the double ring cere mony. The bride’s parents enter tained with a reception at the Elberton Civic Center. ?r? Mcp. Pam and Elisa Albertson, nieces of the bride were child ren attendants in the wedding. Usher groomsmen were Mr. Jimmy Durham of Greenville, Mr. Harold Davis of Hodges, Mr. W. D. Albertson, Jr. and Mr. Don Albertson of Elber ton. The bride and groom will live on Crestfield Road in Greenville after a honeymoon in the mountains. Mrs. Davis, a graduate of Elbert County High School and Lander College has been em ployed with the faculty at Thorn- well High School for the past two years. She ispresently em ployed with the Greenville County Schools teaching home- economics at Woodmont High School. Mr. Davis, a graduate of Ware Shoals High School is a student at Greenville Technical Educational Center, studying Textile Management Having completed four years of service with the Marine Corps., Mr. Davis is employed with Poe Manufacturing Company. Legion Auxiliary To Meet Tuesday The American Legion Auxi lary will hold there monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. Perry Moore, 106 E. Maple on September 15 at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Charles Buice will be in charge of the program. Knitting Classes Began Tuesday Knitting Classes began Tues day, September 8, at the Y.M. |, C.A. at 7:00 p.m. The classes are instructed by Mrs. Alvin Hueble. Chapmans Give Annual Supper Mr. and Mrs. Pope Chapman held their annual fish and chick en supper honoring members of the American Legion Auxiliary, their husbands and friends, at their Lake Greenwood cottage Saturday evening. Dinner was served buffet style from the long bar in the kitchen-dining area. Tables were arranged in the dining room and porch for the fifty- six attending. Arrangement of double pink and white althea were used on the serving bar and tables in the dining room. Arrangements of marigolds and mixed zinnias were used on the porch. Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. A1 Brice of Green wood, Post Department Com mander of South Carolina Mil ford A. Legion District Meeting Set For Sept 19 The Seventh District meeting of the American Legion Auxi liary Department of S. C. will be held in Laurens on Satur day, September 19. Laurens Unit #25 will host the meeting which will begin at 1 p.m. with a dutch luncheon in the Frlendshin Room. Re gistration will begin at 12:30. Reservations must be made not later than September 15, This meeting will be a “Lit tle Membership Rally* with the district presidents presenting awards and citations to Units that have secured 15 or more members. Mrs. R. O. Chandler, Simpsonville, is Seventh Dis trict President and will pre side at the meeting. Mrs. S.E. Blenis, North August, S. C. Department President will bring greetings from the De partment Included in District Seven are Laurens, Greenville, and Pickens counties, with eight units. Lady Golfers To Luncheon The Ladles Golf Association will meet at the Lakeside Coontry Club on Tuesday,Sept ember 15. It will be a luncheon meeting. Those planning to at tend must notify Mrs. Frances Rowland no later than Sunday, September 13. Mrs. Poole Hosts UDC The first meeting of the Ste phen D. Lee Chapter, U. D. C. was held on Thursday, Septem ber 3 at the home of Mrs. M.C. Poole. Assisting as hostesses were Mrs. J. P. Rowland, Mrs. Henry Trammell, and Mrs. W. C. Baldwin. There were twenty-five members present and Mrs. James Leaman was welcomed as a new member. Mrs. Perry Moore, president presided over the business meeting which included minutes of the last meeting. Treasurers report and reports from Mrs. Grace Young, Scholarship Com mittee and Mrs.RalphCopeland Membership Committee. Miss Louise Kern, retiring presi dent, was presented a plaque as a token of her service to the U.D.C. from 1966-1970. Red letter days for Septem ber, Founders Day, Sept. 10th and Admiral Raphael Semmes birthday, Sept. 27th were pre sented by Mrs. Esther Pitts and Mrs. M. C. Poole. The program was presented in two parts, Mrs. Henry Craig giving very interesting infor mation into the lives of many prominent Confederate Sold iers after the War between the States, and Mrs. W. W. Harris giving a very vivid des cription of her travels in Brazil. A social hour was enjoyed afterwards with the hostesses serving delicious refreshments of sandwiches, cookies, as sorted chips, pickles and punch. Music Club Held First Meeting The Clinton Music Club met with Mrs. Frost Walker with Mrs. Henderson Pitts and Mrs. G. D. Tibitts as co-hostesses. The new officers are Mrs. Frost Walker - President, M s. Louis S. Hayes - vice president, Mrs. Ronald Burnside - secretary, and treasurer, Mrs. Henry Cronic. Mrs. Walker presided. The 7 p.m. cere mony was performed by the Rev. Milton Floyd Hellams, father of the groom, and the Rev. James Haywood Cosby. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Ray Davis of 210 Sweetbrier Road, parents of the bride, were hosts for a reception in the church fellowship hall following the ceremony. The groom’s parents live at 206 Caldwell Street, Clinton. The bride’s twin sister, Miss Karen Moore Davis, served as maid of honor. Other attendants were Miss Eva Jane Harkey of Fort Mill; Miss Katherine Mor gan Bynum of Lynchburg, Va.; Miss Ellen Louise Calussen of Charleston, and Mrs. William Buice, Jr. Wilton Loyd Hellams of Col umbia served as best man. Carwile-Y oung Vows Spoken { 838-1220 The Musgrove Inn was the scene of the wedding of Miss Mae Frances Car wile and Mr. Mason Jasper Young on Satur day, September 5 at 4:30 p.m. Rev. Andrew Wicker and Rev. James Gray solemnized the vows. A reception was given in the ball room of Musgrove Inn. The bride, who is the dau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Carwile, Sr. of 308 North Owens Street, attended the Automation Institute of Newark and is a graduate of Greenville County School of Nursing. She is a member of the Federation of Liscensed Practical Nurse, be. The groom attended Bell Street High School and Pied mont Technical Education Cen ter. He Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Young of Route 1, Clinton. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal length gown of white dulcet sa tin and chantilly lace, designed with a A-line skirt of satin with lace appliques. The Victorian bodice was designed with a high scalloped neckline and long fit ted sleeves. A full lace Game- lot train was attached to the back. Her bouffant veil of silk illusion was attached to a lace capulet She carried a white Bible topped with white carna tions. Mrs. Ralph Williams of Co lumbia was matron of honor. Miss Sarah Copeland of Clinton was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Sandra Wynn of Green ville, Dagamah Alexander of Seneca, Cynthia Holcombe of Spartanburg and Thelma Young of Newman, Georgia. The matron honor wore a gown of apricot chiffon, de signed with an A-line skirt at tached to an empress bodice. Venice lace and satine ribbon trimmed the back bodice and skirt. Ha- ^ mer of Atlanta, Georgia and % formerly at Clinton, announce the birth of a son, Robert Pick ett Hamer, on September 8 in SL Joseph Hospital in Atlanta. Mr. Hamer is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Hamer of Clin ton. Mrs. Hamer is the former Nancy Addison of Hartwell, Ga. The maid of honor wore a sim ilar gown of maize. Each car ried a single stem chrysanthe mums. The bridesmaids wore similar dresses in pastel shades and matching beadpeices and carried matching single stem chrysanthemums.
