HERBERT SPAUGH Are you afraid? Are you wor ried? Are you sick at heart? Are you deeply concerned about some friend? Claim the divine promises. If you are caught in the rain, you run for shelter. So, if you are caught in trouble, run for the shelter of Almighty God. Some of us haven’t been too interested recently in maintain ing contact with the Divine Shel ter. Selfishness, Indifference, and sin have kept us away from God. Now ominous clouds hang over the world's horizons and the storm is upon us. Long ago St. Paul pointed to the reality of this conflict which is now upon us. “We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, a- gainst spiritual wickedness in high places.” Before we can claim the div ine promises there must be heart-searching examination and confession. Each one of us should pray the 51st Psalm, “I acknowledge my transgressions and my sin is ever before me. Against Thee, Thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Thy sight. The most beautiftil parable of Jesus is that of the Pro digal Son. The storm of life buffeted him cruelly as the re sult of his own selfishness and stubbornness. When he returned to the shelter of his father’s house, he found a welcome. We can do likewise. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unright eousness. Now, in the Father’s House, we can hear and claim these promises: “Fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness..For I the Lord thv God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help them... When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, saith the Lord...Ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious...0 God Thou art my God; early will I seek Thee; my soul thirsteth for Thee, my flesh longeth for Thee in a dry ""I thirsty 1 nd, where City Welding Shop Heliarc and Metal Fabricating “Prompt and Efficient Service” 200 Oak St., Clinton, S.
