C., Saturday. Mrs. Ellie Reeder spent the Tabor Day week-end in Whit mire with Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Reeder. Troy Todd and son, Tommy of Reidsville, Georgia visited over the week-end coming especially for Troy Todd’s daughter, Mary Edna’s birthday and for Tommy to attend the McLendon Reunion. WITH THE SICK Ricky Alexander, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Alexander of Joanna, has returned home after being a patient for a few days at Bailey Memorial HospltaL Friends of Kathy Garrett will be interested to know that she is improving nicely at Bailey Me morial Hospital after under going surgery last week. Clifton Heaton Sr. was ill last week with the virus. Mrs. Grace Owens is a pa tient at Greenville General Hos pital. Mrs. Cora King has returned home from Self Memorial Hos pital in Greenwood where she underwent surgery. Mrs. Bobby Quinn is ill at her hon.e on Washington St. Mrs. Glenda Dominick is suf fering with some broken bones in her foot due to a fall in her home. All of these people were also present at the Hedgepath Re union which was held at Pine Haven Park in Clinton. •IKE McLENDON” REUNION The family of “Ike McLen don" had their family reunion at the Lydia Community Build ing Sunday, September 6, 1970. Everyone brought a picnic lunch and dinner was served at one o'clock. Grace was said by Robert Webb. The table center piece was a cake with the family reunion name on it with the McLendon colors of green, orange and brown and with light ed candles in middle of the table. The new Oldsmobile line will be on display Sept. 29 at Lynn Cooper, Inc. PC Professors Publish Articles Dr. Gilbert Dist. Medical Officer Dr. James W. Gilbert has been appointed medical dir ector for the Upper Savannah Health District (Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenwood, Lau rens, McCormick and Saluda Counties) the State Board of Health has announced. A native of Texas who has spent many years in general practice in California, Dr. Gil bert will assume his duties im mediately with headquarters in the city of Greenwooi According to Dr. E. Kenneth Aycock, state health officer, the Upper Savannah Dlstrct Is be ing established along with the 12 others in the State. Each district will have a well-quali fied professional staff who will work with the local health de partments in providing basic health services for all people in the state. Dr. Gilbert spent most of his boyhood in Wichita Falls, Texas, where his father was a railroad accountant. From high school he went immediately into the Navy and served during the war as a radio technician in California. He returned to Texas, studied at the Univer sity, and then graduated from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1952. He was in general practice for a number of years in El Centro, California. In 1964 he served as part-time health of ficer in Clifton, Arizona; and this experience led him into a full time public health career. He recently received his Mas ters Degree in Public Health from the University of Michi gan. Articles of theological inter est by two Presbyterian College professors have appeared re cently in the Journal of Biblical Literature. Dr. Lewis S. Hay, professor of religion and Greek, wrote on the subject of “The Son of Man in Mark 2:10 and 2:28." Dr. George W. Ramsey, as sociate professor of religion, published his article under the title “Amos 4:12--A new Per spective." Dr. Hay is a PC alumnus who earned his PhD from Emory University and has been a mem ber of the faculty here since 1955.
