BATTERY B REUNION — Battery B 107 AAA
Association held their 13th reunion at the Clinton
National Guard Armory on Aujr. 14-15. About 40
members of the World War II unit attended the
reunion The officers elected for 1971 were How
ard Watkins. President; Louis Bond, first vice-
president; J. A. Hunnicutt, second vice-president:
Winfred Norris, recording secretary; Boyd Holtz-
daw, mailing secretary; and Bill Terry, historian.
Those attendimr the reunion include (seated, left

COL. JOHNSON HONORED — W. D. Terry is
shown presenting a picture of the late Col. Wal
ter Johnson to Mrs. Johnson at her home on East
Calhoun Street Johnson was battalion com
mander of the National Guard unit that left
Clinton in February of 1940 and fought in World
War II. Battery B of the battalion is putting to
gether a scrapbook and it will l>e dedicated to Col.
Johnson. The picture is a favorite one of the
Johnson family and the battalion had it^S&rged
for presentation to Mrs. Johnson and to be used
in the scrapbook. Walter Johnson was the long
time football coach and athletic director at Pres
byterian College

CLUB DISBANDS
The Clinton Rotary Club has
recently disbanded and returned
its charter to international
headquarters. Rotary was the
oldest service club m the city,
having been irganized more than
19 years ago.
William P. Jacobs, HI, has
returned from a six weeks’
stay in New York.
Miss Agatha Jones is the
guest of friends at Myrtle Beach
this week.
Mr. and Mrs. T. Heath Cope
land spent several days this
week at Myrtle Beach.

ed a birthday Monday, August

Revival Series
Revival services are in pro
gress at the Church of God of
Prophecy at 210 Pinckney Place
in Joanna. Services are held
each night at 7:30 p.m. They
began on August 24 and will
ru for two weeks.
The evangelist is Rev. Paul
Johnson of Watts Mill. The pas
tor of the church is William H.
Wilson.
Byars Elected
Bill Byars of Joanna was
elected treasurer of the Senior
class at Furman University
for the 1970-71 academic year.
Bill, son of Mr. and Mrs.
W. P. Byars, is a graduate
of Clinton High School.
