Giles In Woodruft Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Wooten and children and Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Wooten attended the God frey Reunion at the home of Mrs. Inez Hendrix In Whit mire, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. James Laney and family andMrs. Judy Hoop er of Greenville spent Sunday with Mr. Laney’s and Mrs. Hooper’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Laney. Ted Hamrick of Spartanburg visited his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Hamrick, Sun day. Rev. and Mrs. James T. Hughes and children of Gray Court vacationed last week at North Vernon, Ind. Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Hamrick were B. W. Gaffhey and son, Allen, of Spar tanburg. Mrs. Essie Crow of New berry was a guest of Mrs. El la Harvey on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Pruitt and family of Bamburg spent Fri day and Satruday with his pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. George Pruitt. Also visitine them on Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Pruitt and family of Ninety-Six. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Smith Jr. and children entertained Mr. and Mrs. Claude Smith, Sr. Mrs. Jenny Burton and Tommy, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Tucker and children, and Devon Graham with a bar-be-cue-, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Shelton and daughter , Rebecca, were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs.Horace Johnson, Mike and Donna, of Raleigh, North Car olina. The Sheltons also visited several points of interest a- round Raleigh along with the Johnsons. Rebecca Shelton spent last week at Myrtle Beach along with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hartsell and children, Marty and Stacy. They visited Wilmington, NorthCar- ollna while they were at the beach. The Hartsells are from Simpsonville. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pear son and sons of Columbia spent the week-end with his mother, Mrs. L. H. Pearson. On Sunday J. R. Hamrick visited Rev. L . H. Elliott in Saluda. Guests of Mrs. Glenda Dom inick for her birthday were friends from Spartanburg and Greenville. WITH THE SICK Rev. Raymond E. Duvall has returned home after being a patient for several days last week at Bailey Memorial Hos pital. Mr. Ralph Bearden remains ill at his home. Mrs. Cora King is a surgi cal patient at Self Memorial Hospital at Greenwood. “Pat” Patterson patient at Bailey Hospital. is also a Memorial CLASS MEETING The Darcus Bible class of Calvary Baptist Church held its regular monthly meeting Tuesday night, August 18, at 7:30 at the Clinton Community Building. The meeting was opened with devotion by Mrs. Leo Heatherly. After the business session of the meeting, Mrs. Bea Hardman then served a plate of refreshment to the ladies. The meeting was closed with prayer by Mrs. Hardman. Mrs = Glenda Dominick and Mrs. Pat Nabors celebrated their birthdays with a party at the Carousel Shoppe on Satur day, August 23. Refreshments of cheese bis cuits, sandwiches, cake and punch were served to a number of friends and neighbors who dropped in to help celebrate. Many nice gifts were received and appreciated by Glenda and Pat. BIRTHDAYS ANNIVERSARIES Robert Adams observed his birthday August 24. Tommy Burton, Jr. cele brated his 1st birthday, August 17th. Ronnie Derrick of Pros perity, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Leopard of this city, celebrated his 3rd birth day, August 26. On August 23rdRobln Lowery celebrated his birthday. Birthday wishes went to Mrs. Tony Hooper of Greenville on August 24. Christopher Hughes, son of Rev. and Mrs. James Hughes, of Gray Court celebrated his 1st birthday on August 24. He is the grandson of Mr. andMrs. J. H. Hughes of this city. James Lee Price celebrated his birthday August 25. Friends of Darrell Whitsel will be interested to learn that he received his Registered Cosmetologist Licenses on August 12. Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Adams observed their wedding anni versary on August 26. SHOUSE A number of former mem bers and friends attended Homecoming services at Fair- view Baptist Church Sunday. The morning worship service was at 11 A.M., Rev. Alfred Fisher, pastor presided. Visi tors were welcomed by Mrs. Billy Wyatt. Mrs. James P. Johnson, Jr. read the history. Special music by Mrs. Ronnie McQuirt and Mrs. Wayne Mc Cullough accompanied at the organ by Mrs. TlllmanCrapps. Rev. Parks McKitrlck deliver ed the morning serman. Dinner was served at 1 o’clock and in the afternoon Rev. W. W. Will ingham, a former pastor led a song service. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Frank lin have returned home after being a patient at Bailey Mem orial Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Johnson were in Greenville Sunday afternoon to visit Mrs. John son’s brother Mack Blakely. Miss Sallie Pitts and Fred Floyd of Atlanta were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. David T. Pitts, Sr. Shady Grove Homemakers Extension Club will meet Tues day, September 1st at 5 p.m. at the Clubhouse. All members are urged to attend this fall meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Crapps of Rock Hill, visited Mr. and Mrs. TlllmanCrappsduringthe week-end, and attended Fair- view Homecoming on Sunday. Mrs. James Nabors has re turned home after being with her sisters in Georgia several weeks. In 1968, the farmer received 39 cents of the dollar the con sumer spent for food produced in the United States, one cent more than in 1967.
