loosened?
A One usually effective way of
locking these legs or rungs se
curely in their holes is by driv
ing small brads m the sides of
the holes at an angle before
forcing the leg tenons or rungs
back into the holes The brads
will bend and act as wedges.
Q. How can I shrink woolens?
A Take a sheet, wet U. and
spread on an even surface. Open
the woolen material completely
and spread over the wet sheet
Now clip the selvage every few
inches. Spread a second wet
sheet over the woolen fabric, pat
lightly over the entire area, and
let stand o vemight
Q How about removing stub
born stains, like crayon, llpetick,
and soot, from furniture, wood
work, and wsills?
A These are difficult to re
move with suds, unless you add
an abrasive cleaner that can
damage the finish. Try using a
good cleaning wax.
Q. How can 1 dean off old
stains from leather upholstery?
A By coating with a mixture
of powdered pipeclay and water,
mixed to a paste. Allow this to
remain for several hours, then
brush off, repeating the process
if necessary.
Q. How can I produce an
attractive high polish Oft apples
oranges, pears, and other such
fruits I am using for a center-
bowl on my table?
A. By using a good grade
of salad oil. Saturate a small
doth with the oil and mb over
the surfaces of die fruits, then
buff with a dry doth. Your
fruits will glisten beautifully,
and they'll last longer.
Q. What can I do, when
I've finished using a can of
paint, but expect to use it
again within another day or
two?
A. You can preserve your
paint and prevent any thick
film from forming on its sur
face if you'll just pour a little
water over it. When you'te
ready to use your paint again,
all you have to do is pour off
die water.
