*>-• <*■ THE CHRONICLE, Clinton, S- C, July 23, 1970—1-B 4 HIT BY FIREBOMBS—Pace’s Groc ery, above, and Putman’s Cloth Shop, below, were two of the seven local places hit by firebombs last Friday. One firebomb was thrown through the window at Pace’s Grocery. It ig nited a case of toilet tissue but was extinguished before it could do any major fire damage. J. D. Pace, own er of the store, lives across the street from the store at 516 N. Broad St. His wife heard the noise when the plate glass window was broken. She saw the fire and gave the alarm. Two firebombs were thrown into Put man’s Cloth Shop but they were ex tinguished on the cement floor before they could cause any damage other than burning part of a table and scorching a mg. st* A Candid Look At Youth ■Flip Side*, a new full color dramatic feature film which ta kes a candid look at the youth of today and finds them differ ent, will be shown in the Cha pel of the First Presbyter n Church on Friday night, July 24, at 8:00. It graphi cally portrays to a generation warped by dope, sex, liquor, broken communTcatfods, hippie philosophies and godless pleas ure, that Christ is The Way. All teenagers and their par ents are invited to see this dra matic movie. Refreshments will be served after the movie. In June of 1969 employment in the combined textile, man made fiber, and garment in dustries of South Carolina to talled 213,000-151,200 in basic textiles, 18,700 in synthetic fi bers, and 43,100 incut-and-sew operations. A year later, ac cording to the S. C. Employ ment Security Commission, the total for these allied industries was down to 206,000. The loss of 4,800 jobs in basic textiles, 1,200 in fillers and 1,000 in the garment trade is attributable to increased imports of foreign textile items, according to re liable authorities.
