'Cal' Ferguson
Roosevelt (Cal) Ferguson, 47,
of Stonewall St., in Clinton died
Wednesday, July 1.
A son of the late Tom Jake
and Lucille Ferguson, he was a
World War II veteran and a
member of Hebron Baptist
Church. Surviving are his wife,
Mrs. Mary Francis Ferguson;
five sisters, Mrs. Sallie Vance,
Miss Lois Ferguson, Mrs. Sib-
bie Kinard, Mrs. Mattie Mae
Shulton, and Mrs. Lucy Simp
son of Clinton. Six brothers,
Thomas, Sylvester, and John
nie B. Ferguson of Clinton,
Willie andOlester Ferguson of
New York City, and Grover Fer
guson of Washington, D. C.
Funeral services were held
on Sunday, July 5, at Wateree
Baptist Church. Thompson’s
Mortuary was in charge.
Lt. Col. Owens
Chaplain Lt. Col Albert D.
Owens, a former resident of
Clinton, died Sunday, June 30
at Keesler Air Force Base in
Biloxi, Miss.
He was born in Newberry, son
of the late George Robert 0-
wens and Inez Owens McCrary
and was a graduate ofNewberry
College and the Lutheran Theo
logical Seminary in Columbia
and received an M.S. degree
from the University of South
Carolina.
Surviving are his wife.
Mrs. Mary Livingston Owens;
two daughters, Miss Faith 0-
wens and Miss Aleesa Owens
ofNewberry; a stepfather, J. 0.
McCrary of Newberry; a bro
ther, George R. Owens Jr. of
Newberry; and a sister, Mrs.
Broadus Lipscomb of New
berry.
Funeral services were held
on Thursday, July 2, at Colony
Lutheran Church. Burial with
military rights, was in the
church cemetery.

July 4.
He was a graduate of Bell
Street High School and attend
ed the Area Trade School in
Denmark. He was an Airborne
Division veteran of the Korean
Conflict. He was a son of Mrs.
Pernella V. Jones of Clinton.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Barbara A. Vance; a son, Re
ginald Vance of the home; three
daughters, Vanessa, Jacquelin
and Valery Vance of the home;
and his foster father, Samuel
Jones of Clinton.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, July 8, at Bethel
AME Church. Burial with mili
tary rights was in the church
cemetery. Thompson’s Mortu
ary was in charge.

ANDERSON - William Earle
Clark, 81, of 215 White Hall
Road, died Thursday, July 2.
He was a brother of Mrs. C.
F. Masters of Clinton.
Other survivors include three
sons, a daughter, three bro
thers, and six grandchildren.

Friday at McDougald’s South
Chapel with burial in Old Stone
Church Cemetery near Pendle
ton.

B. B. Blakely
Bennie B. Blakely, former
Laurens County Supervisor,
died on Saturday, July 4, in
Columbia.
He was a lifelong resident of
Laurens County, son of the late
Bluford Bee and Fannie Madden
Blakely. He was a farmer, a
mail carrier, a representative
for the Southeastern Concrete
Products Co., a former Laurens
County commissioner and su
pervisor, and elder of the Pro
vidence ARP Church ofClinton.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Mary Etta Boyle Blakely; a
daughter, Miss Anne Blakely of
Long Island, N. Y.; three bro
thers, J. 'G. Blakely of St. Paul,
N. C., David A. Blakely ofGas-
tonia, N. C., and Col. William
Rush Blakely of Bradentown,
Fla.; and four sisters, Mrs. 0.
R. Bell of Lancaster, Mrs. T.
R. Bethune of Columbia, and
Mrs. Downes Monroe and Mrs.
William Chisholm of Clinton.

Monday, July 6, at the Provi
dence ARP Church. Burial was
in Rosemont Cemetery.

Court, died Tuesday, June 30, in
Arkansas. He was the father of
L. E. Gilliland of Clinton.

Mrs. Sula Vandiver Reynolds,
54, of 704 East Carolina Ave.,
wife of William J. ReynoldsSr.,
died Wednesday, July 1, in Co
lumbia.
She was a native of Spartan
burg, but had lived in Clinton
for 11 years. She was a daugh
ter of the late Joseph Milligan
and Hassie Carter Vandiver.
She was a retired cottage par
ent at Whitten village and was
a Baptist,

William J. Reynolds of the USAF
in the South Pacific, Robert
Melvin Reynolds of the USAF
in Da Nang, Vietnam, and
Wayne and Jon V. Reynolds of
the home; two daughters, Miss
Rebecca Reynolds of Myrtle
Beach and Miss Elaine Reynolds
of the home; and two sisters,
Mrs. Sara Ray and Mrs. 0. F.

Clinton died Friday. He was a'
