Price-Support Loan Rates Set For Soybeans BY MARY W. MONROE County Executive Director ASCS With the announcement of the county price-support loan rate of $2.25 per bushel for 1970- crop soybeans, county loan rates have now been announced for wheat, barley, oats, rye, grain sorghum, and soybeans. For each of these crops, ex cept oats aad soybeans, which are not terminally oriented, the U. S. Department of Agriculture this year modernized the me thod of establishing county loan rates in response to changing conditions in marketing, trans portation, and international trade. However, in the major producing areas of these crops, very little change has been made in the 1970-crop loan rates. All county loan rates are based n the national average price sup port loan rate. For Laurens County, the 1970-crop rates other then soy beans are: Wheat, $1.30 bu.; barley, $.88 rye, $1.20 bu.. Oats, $.74 bu. Grain Sorghum, $1.67 bu. Announcement is expected in the near future erf county price- support loan and pur chase rates for corn. As in the case of oats and soybeans, no change is to be made in the method of de termining county rates for this crop. Vote For W.
