Holland and son, David Holland and Scott Sand- ridge, her grandson, have re turned from a visit in George town, the beach and visiting points of interest on the coast. * * * Lt. Barringer Fox Wingard who is attending officers school at Ft. Belvoir, Va. will spend the holiday weekend with his mother, Mrs. B. F. Wingard. Miss Debbie Westmoreland of Warner Robins, Ga., and Mr. Lou Wood of Macon, Ga. will be guests of Mrs. Wingard and Barry over the weekend. * + * Dr. and Mrs. RoySuberwere among the guests who were en tertained at the Govern -r’s mansion last week. Stone. * + * Keith Trammell has returned home following a year's tour of duty in Vietnam. Followinga 35- day leave he will report to Ft. Riley, Kansas where he will be assigned. While here they enjoyed a cook- nut in the backyard on Saturday evening. Jen kins and four little children have been visiting Mr. Jenkins' father, Mr. C. Roy Jenkins and Mrs. Jenkins. Traveling by camper the fam ily plans a leisurely trip to New York and Canada via the mountains of North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, visit- mg enroute. While in New York City, Mr. Jenkins will attend a week's “refresher" Seminar in Law. * * * Mrs. Louise Few, a retired teacher of Greer, recently spent the afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. C. Roy Jenkins. * * * Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Jacobs have returned from a visit with their daughter, Mrs. John W. King and Mr. King in Summer ville, Ga. They also were in Rome, Ga., where they visited their granddaughter, Mrs. J. R. Oxford and Mr. Oxford, going especially to see their new great- grandson, James Russell Oxford Jr. * * * Mrs. Mary Norman continues to improve at her home after several weeks illness and hos pital stay. Her daughter, Mrs. Harvey Huffstutler of Columbia is staying with her and will be joined by her three daughters on Wednesday. Mr. Huffstutler will join them this weekend. A- nother daughter, Mrs. James A. Thomas has returned to her home in Atlanta after being with her mother. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Giles and little son, David, of Bruns wick, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Honored On Friday evening, Mrs. Har old Vandiver entertained with a miscellaneous tea-shower at her home in Lavonia, Georgia in honor of Mrs. Randy Thomp son, bride of Randy Thompson of Joanna. As guests arrived between the hours of 7:30 and 9, they were greeted at the door by the hos tess, along with the hi noree, her mother, Mrs. Junes Franks and the groom’s m -ther. Mrs. Lewis Thompsun. The party m- ms were beau tifully decorated with summer flowers of pink and white. The honoree was presented a cor sage of white carnations. The dining table was l ively with a white lace c- ver over pink. Pink tapers were used in the silver candelabra. Dainty party sandwiches, cake squares, nuts and mints were served from silver trays. Punch was served from a large sil ver punch bowl. Local B&PW Club Participates In Newberry Meet A local member of the Clin ton Business and Professional Women’s Club participated in the District Four B&PW meet ing Saturday, June 20. The New berry Club was host at Kaufman Hall, Newberry College. Mrs. W. W. Harris of Clin ton, State Chairman of the Nat ional Development Foundation, explained the work of the Foun dation toward assisting any bu siness and professional woman with career advancement scho larships, and the use of semi nars throughout the country for problem solving techniques. Clinton members whoattenc ed with Mrs. Harris were Mrs. W. J. Crews, president; Mrs. P. M. Pitts, treasurer; Mrs.C. Roy Jenkins, recording secre tary. No matter how good a swim mer you may be, safety should always be foremost in your mind. Strength alone will not keep you from getting into trou ble if you take too many chances in the water. Attend State Convention Mrs. R. P. Chapman attended the 50th ainnual convention i if the American Legion Auxiliary, Department of South Carolina at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston June 26-28, as a delegate from the local unit. The convention opened with a session at 2:30 on Friday. Joint sessions were held with the Legion on Saturday at 0 a. m. at which time Senator Str-'m Thurmond was a guest speak er. A banquet was held Sat urday evening. Department and Nath nal citations were presented units on Saturday. Clinton’s Unit 5G received the Membership Cita tion for achieving g"al. Mrs. Stanley F. Biennis - f North Augusta was installed as S. C. Department president f r 1970-71. Others attending the conven tion were Mr. Chapman, Ran dolph Johnson, Wyman Shealy and Leo J. Rock.
