Mr. and Mrs. Prue Waters and family visited during the weekend with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Boyd in Greenville. Mrs. Emmie Thomas is visit ing in Greer with her daughter, Mrs. Johnny Simmons and Mr. Simmons. Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Hughey left Saturday for a week’s va cation in Jacksonville, Fla., with Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Franklin, their daughter and son-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Reubin Black- well and sons and Miss Peggy Ballard spent Sunday at Cea- sars Head, Cherokee, N. C. and Gatlinburg, Tenn. Mr. Marvin Birch and Mrs. Willie McLeary and children of Greenville and Miss Linda Fin ley who was visiting them from Colorado visited Mrs. Lottie Birch on Thursday. Leslie Shook of Saluda spent the weekend with her grand parents Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Reece. Mr. and Mrs. Mason Cole man, Misses Gloria and Ann Coleman and Penny Sumner, Ranson Coleman, Johnnie Mill er and Oscar Edward spent sev eral days this week at Folly Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Luther Hughes have returned home after a three weeks visit in East Point, Florida with their son, Mr. Fur man Hughes and Mrs. Hughes who accompanied them home for the week. Mrs. Luther Hughes injured her leg while in Flori da. Mrs. Alma Harvey and grand children, Miss Betty Jean Har vey and James Harvey were weekend guests of their daugh ter and aunt, Mrs. J. W. Tur ner and Mr. Turner in Clarks ville, Ga. recently. Mrs. Raybon Wyatt is spend ing the week at Lake Green wood at their lakeside home, joining Mr. Wyatt there. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Cooper and family visited their son, Charles (Pete) Cooper and Mrs. Cooper at Camp Lejeune, N. C. this week. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mor ton were Saturday guests of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. David Hughes in Laurens. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Everyone; “For all have sinned and come iihort of the glory of God.” (Rom. 3:23). We cannot neglect salva tion and expect to be saved. “How shall we es cape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord . . .” (Heb. 2:3). WHY DO WE NEED SALVATION? “But your inqiuties have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you. that he will not hear.” (Isa. 59:2). And Paul wrote, “For the wages of sin is death . . .” (Rom. 6:23). WHEN DO WE NEED SALVATION? “Be hold, now is the accepted time;. behold, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Cor. 6:2). If there is a tomorrow, it could be too late for you. “Whereas ye know what shall be on the morrow.” (Jas. 4:14). WHERE IS SALVATION? “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings ... in Christ.” (Eph. 1:3). Not one spiritual blessing can be our out of Christ. WHAT IS NECESSARY ON OUR PART? (1) Faith in Christ as the Son of God. (Mk. 16:. 16-16; Acts 16-31; Heb. 11:6). (2) Repentance of sins. (Lk. 13:13; 24:47; Acts 17:30; Rom. 10:10; Acts 8:36-37). (4) Baptized into Christ, for the remission of sins. (Mk. 16:16; Jon. 3:6; Acts 2:38; 22:16; 1 Pet. 3:21; Rom. 6:3; Gal. 3:27). “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness.” (Rom. 10:10). ‘Then hath God also the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.” (Acts 11:18). “With the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Roan. 10:10). “Baptized INTO Jesus Christ.” (Rom. 6:3; Gal. 3:27). Mrs. MyrtieAlewine and sons Wayne Alewine and Arthur and Mrs. Alewine and son were in Newberry during the weekend because of the death of their father and grandfather, John Frank Wheeler of Newberry. Also attending the funeral on Saturday in Newberry was Miss Brenda Johnson. Mrs. Mildred Dickerson, Steve Dickerson and Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Dickerson and children have been visiting Sgt. and Mrs. Billy Dickerson in Key West, Fla., this week. Bruce Simpson of Cross Hill spent the weekend with Malcolm Sanders. Mr. Sanders spent a recent weekend at Myrtle Beach. Mr. and Mrs. John Williams and children of Morganton,N. C. were guests of his mother, Mrs. Madeline S. Williams, Sunday and Monday. Dwight Waldrop is visiting his mother Mrs. F. D. Waldrop in Greenville for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. William Stone and family of Anderson are spending several days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Trammell. Mrs. Mary Fallaw is visit ing her daugher, Mrs. David Storay and Mr.Storay in Green ville. She will accompany them to North Carolina for a few days while visiting them. Mr. Fred Mathis is attending the Church of God Camp meeting in Mauldin each evening this week. Paul Arnold Jr. left Tuesday for an extended stay in Hawaii. Rev. and Mrs. Fred cason ana daughter have been visiting her sister, Mrs. Grady Holtzclaw in Greenville and attending the Church of God Camp Meeting in Mauldin this week. Wells Goss left last week for Atlanta, Ga. where he has enrolled in Falls Business Col lege. Miss Priscilla Gaskins is spending a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Gakins. Tony Webb has received his discharge from the U. S. Army and he with Mrs. Webb and son are now making their home in Clinton. FORMER RESIDENT TO WED NEWBERRIAN Miss Barbara Charlyn Alt man and Mr. Hubert Daniel Thomas both of Newberry are being married tonight, July 2 at the Aveleigh Presbyterian Church in Newberry. Miss Altman is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Char les Altman. A 1970 graduate of Newberry Hospital as an X-ray Technician she will work in Ro per Hospital in Charleston fol lowing their marriage. A/lc Thomas a graduate of Newberry College will be sta tioned in Charleston. He is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Daniel Thomas who were Clinton residents for many years. DUNNAWAY- BALLEW RITES Miss Janice Dunaway of Lau rens became the bride of Floyd Eugene Ballew, son of Mrs. Sara Shelnut of Cypress St, on Friday June 26 at the Laurens County Court House. The ceremony was performed by Probate Judge Hewlette Was son. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dunaway of Laurens. The young couple plan to live in Clinton. He is an employee of Lydia Plant, Clinton Mills. MR. PATTERSON MARRIES GREENWOOD GIRL Robert Patterson, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Patterson of Elm St. was married to Miss Cynthia Dillishaw of Greenwood on June 21 in Saluda. At present the young couple are in Greenwood. WITH THE SICK Mrs. Hazel Williams under went surgery in the General Hospital in Greenville on Fri day. Mrs. J. B. Vanderford is a patient in Self Memorial Hospi tal in Greenwood. Mr. James Childress has re turned home after having sur gery in Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood. Mr. and Mrs. Perry Lee Swy gert and Terry plan to spend the latter part of the week at Daytona Beach, Fla., and attend the Daytona 500 race. Mrs. Stella Kimmel and Candy of Bethlehem, Pa., re turned on Friday after spend ing a week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Beckom. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Phillips motored to Neffs, Ohio to visit Mr. and Mrs. George Pratt. They toured Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia and other points of interest on the weeks vaca tion. Miss Mobly Graduate Nurse Miss Linda Ann Mobly, for merly of Clinton, was among a class of 60 graduate nurses who received their diplomas from Queen of Angels School of Nurs- rng Thursday evenmg, June 11, in St. Basil Church, Los Angeles. This was the largest class ever to be graduated by the School. His Emmence James Francis Cardinal McIntyre presided. Miss Mobly is the daughter of Mrs. Ruth Mobly, also formerly of Clinton. Miss Mobly was graduated from MiraCostaHigh School, Manhattan Beach,Calif. Nineteen of the 60 graduates are from the special Adult Pro ject Group. Five are male.
